Yeah; get Madonna. It's absolutely amazing. After that, get Source Tags And Codes. Yum.
If you want a taster, download Mistakes And Regrets, Totally Natural, A Perfect Teenhood (all from Madonna) and It Was There That I Saw You (from ST&C). There's another, more overtly melodic side to them than those songs, but I think they're definitely good starting points.
They have a new album due out later this month, I think...I've heard varying opinions, but the new songs sounded excellent live, and the person whose opinion I trust most on these matters said it was a great album, so I have high hopes.
A few reviews:
http://pitchforkmedia.com/cgi-bin/search2/...s=trail+of+deadhttp://www.nme.com/reviews/10267.htmhttp://www.drownedinsound.com/bands.php?id=262That Drowned In Sound link also links to a few songs...I've not heard Worlds Apart, but Relative Ways (from ST&C) is pretty instantly-likeable; Mark David Chapman is top, but not necessarily the best place to start out.
The fansite,
http://www.trailofdead.org is ace too.
edit: I was just looking at their tour dates, and they're playing Berlin on a German tour later this year:
3rd March: Markthalle, Hamburg
4th March: Postbahnhof, Berlin5th March: Live Music Hall, Koln
6th March: Muffathalle, Munich
8th March: Schlachthof, Wiesbaden.
I would really recommend seeing them live; they're one of the best bands I've ever seen.

There's a reason for that!
I'm glad you're liking ...Trail Of Dead, Chix. You've still got Mistakes And Regrets and Totally Natural to discover yet, too

The only problem with the first album is that it's not as good as the other two. It's still pretty ace, but I can only think of Richter Scale Madness and Half Of What as standout songs, which is rather less than the other albums. Having said that, there are only eight songs on it, so maybe it's proportional. Oh, I'll stop wittering on and hope you enjoy it...just bear in mind that the other two albums are better.

Well, it is a simple answer: I like them bacause they play great music. And I'm not saying All that you can't leave behind is a super duper album - I prefer Pop than that so-called spirital music. But albums like Boy, War, The Unforgettable fire, Rattle and hum, Joshua tree, Achtung baby and Zooropa are legendary. Also I might be a bit romantic about them - they were my firt big rock band I started to listen to. But their music is really good.

Hmm. I just got up and found my dad's "Trail of Dead" album in his CD rack, he was wrong. We actually have their third album, "Source Tags & Codes", only for some reason my dad thought it was their first. So, nevermind, I don't have their first album. I have their third. Which is good, because I quite liked the stuff I downloaded from their third.
Next time I'm at Best Buy or something I'm definitely going to pick up "Madonna", though.
