I have to say something about this,

Everytime the Vines play a secret show I'm left with the thought "What if I didn't find out about it? I would have been gutted" attitude. The last 2 "secret" shows ("Joe Dirt" and "The Crimes") have been really great sets but I was LUCKY to stumble onto the knowledge of these shows mere hours before they occured.

I guess I just want to ask, if anyone knows.... Why is it that they play these shows without the following and loyalty of their fans to appreciate it?! Its like fucking punishment! Like it doesn't matter if their suporters are there or not. How the hell are you supposed t find out about the shows if your not related or best friends with the band?!

I guess it bugs me because if I wasn't lucky enough to find out about the shows, I would hate the thought of missing them. And for a band that are pretty.... unpredictable (tour wise) seeing them is a real treat so why go to all the effort of making it a god damn secret when there are people who really enjoy seeing them play??




Ok, I've had my rant. Sorry guys. On the plus side, they are back in fine form. Great set. Great songs. Great Charisma. And an added bonus was the "preview" of a new song. Which sounded fucking INCREADIBLE!

you do raise a valid question above btw, maybe it's less pressure on them.. like a practice before they commit to real shows. i don't know maybe jess can answer, all i know is if you're as obsessed as me you will find these things out online. so glad they're back!

Well if the fans were the first to know, there could be some who cannot keep a secret. They may spread the news like wildfire and it wouldn't really be a 'secret show'.

They do play in Sydney a fair bit though - usually at least twice for every album... It's not like they did a secret show in Brazil or something where fans who missed out would probably never see them again. I mean, I do see your point and all (hey I'd have gone if I'd known!) but as kitty kat kate said - if they advertised it like a regular show so that all the fans knew - it wouldn't be a secret show.
I'm really glad you did find out in time though! It sounds like it was an amazing concert (not that I'd expect anything less ).

BTW I'm compiling a checklist for The Vines to go to places all arounds the world and perform for their fans

But I guess I can't complain because I've seen them so many times! Still, I was only blocks away at my apartment!

Ohhh they were 'Joe Dirt'? I heard about them playing and was like ' what kind of lame name is that?' I'd be kicking myself now if I didn't see them on saturday.

You know if that Hiimpact guy never said anything, very few of us would have known.
