I think theses too are prob. the most popular bands from aussieland not counting ac/dc.

hey do you think is more popular silverchair or the vines?
Fade Into You
Obviously Silverchair.

They have a very long time than The Vines. But it doesnt mean they're better. (at least for me). I love Silverchair, and would be so hard to me say how is the best band. But popular, Silverchair.

and what the heck did silverchair do with their style?
kitty_kat_kate
Silverchair I guess. I hardly hear any Vines songs on commercial radio over here and none of their songs never made the top 20 unlike Silverchair. But they're still one of my favorite bands.

well they where hot here in the us with get free and outtahway
kitty_kat_kate
Heck, even Jet and Wolfmother gets played on commercial radio and not many people know who the Vines are

Uh. Why is this even a question?

I get the impression that in Australia Silverchair are kind of rock royalty.

In the US though, they're forgotten - I have friends who were really into Neon Ballroom who didn't know that Young Modern Station had come out, let alone Diorama.

I think the Vines are more popular based on recognition though - in the popular memory of the US, "Get free" is fresher than anything Silverchair has come out with.

*uses this has an excuse to post this awesomely long Silverchair gif*
