Was watching Vines video clips on YouTube, as you do, and someone had commented Ride saying the song was going to be in New Moon.

Their username, which I'm not going to give out for their sake, was very... er... Twilight obsessive... so I figured they'd know what they were talking about. I sent them a private message which went;

"Hey,
I saw that you commented on the Vines' video 'Ride' and said it was going to be in New Moon.
Is there evidence to back this up or is it just a rumour or what? How'd you hear about it?

Thanks so much"


They replied;
"Um...Wow, now I'm gonna sound stupid or something, but I don't remember commenting on that video. Maybe I did, cause one day when I was bored I went around commenting the vids of songs that are suppose to be in New Moon. Ok, so all the songs that I say are suppose to be in New Moon, might be. This is what it says on Stephenie's page for the New Moon playlist. Mind you, it isn't official, but it's what she wants for the plylist. I can give you the url if you'd like?"

My reply;
"Yes please, that'd be great.
Thanks."

[By the way, I wanted to sound nice and as if I MIGHT like Twilight, so they'd give me the link and not see me as a hater. I think the person thinks I'm a fan. Well, I never said I wasn't ]

My instant reaction was "Oh great, now when New Moon screens, Ride will have another 15 minutes of fame and 15 million Twilight fangirls will become fixated on the Vines like they did to Paramore after Twilight came out"
Then again, looking at that list, imagine all the other bands who might get thrown into the generic scene because of one movie's popularity. Could be any of them, 'Ride' might end up going unnoticed, and then again, this is what Stephenie Meyer wants, not what will be.

But lets say it happens... what do you think of it?

That playlist is actually the list of songs SMeyer was listening when she was writing the book to ~get the creative juices flowing~ or something (I blame ontd_twatlight for knowing that ). I do hope The Vines aren't linked to this abomination any futher, I feel bad enough for Muse already. Though I suppose it would be lulzy if it was the cliff-diving scene or the BRB VOLTERRA one. That will be almost as hilariously epic as the dazzlesparkle-THIS-BE-SKIN-OF-A-KILLUR-sparkledazzle scene in Twilight.

uh.. that freakin movie only use 'old' songs. they're really not good at choosing music. the director should get another year back to movie director school. i feel terrible to know they use muse's supermas. that's not cool at all. i'd like to just watch The Covenant for times.. than Twatlight. bad movie.

Yeah I read the series. It was crap. And to top it off she thanks Muse and Interpol in the end.

I REALLY wouldn't mind at all though. I mean it's a good promotional venue for them. And there are much worse movies and such that the song could be licensed out to.

Probably the only good thing she's done is get all these Cullenholics listening to some good music.

grrr I was so pissed off that they used Muse in the movie...I have a friend who is a Twilight fanatic and she has Twilight clipouts from magazines on her folder. I always say to her 'VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE!!!' while another friend wrote Twilight on the inside of her middle finger and said to her 'Read between the lines!!!'

Also she's a Jonas Brothers fanatic and it makes me even more pissed off

I agree with you though, about Muse aswell. I'm not a fan of Muse but I know how lame it is of them to be associated even slightly with the movie.

i've only the read the first of the twilight books. i was so put-off by it that i didn't bother reading the rest of them. i'm a girl and i got so sick of all the lovey-doveyness in it!!

hrmm... as to the vines being on the soundtrack... i guess it would be good for them but i'd be annoyed as anything because they'd be like muse right now. i love muse and think LIKE SOME INSANE PERSON that the band MIGHT HAVE other songs that are good or EVEN BETTER than supermassive black hole (which is, don't get me wrong, a very good song). it gets annoying when you have conversations like this:

me: hrmm. muse. good band.
some 14 yr old girl: OMG. i totally LURRRRRVE muse! supermassive black hole!!
me: oh yeah? cool... good song. i really like hurricanes and butterflies.

THAT gets annoying.

Crazy fan girls who only like them because they were in their beloved "Twilight"= sucky-do-not-let-them-near-me-i-will-strangle- them.

They'll only become interested because of the movie or because they've researched to see what the band members look like. And once they find out how good looking Craig is... Oh God, help! They probably won't even be able to appreciate how fucking amazing Craig sounds or the beauty of the songs. And besides, every time the song would come on, they'd scream about which part of Twilight it played on.

The song could quite possibly be played where Bella is riding the motorbike to be able to hear Edwards voice in her head.. That's the only part I can remember that seems like it'd fit.

Yeah... I read all the books. But I'm not a huge "OMG Twilight!" gusher or fan of it. Movie didn't really go into detail about how their whole relationship came about.

Anyway, yeah. I'm with the majority of the people on this thread. But if 'Ride' is in the movie, that's probably the part it'd be at. But I could be wrong. Probably am.

I'm with Liz . I think it could be great seeing as the album just got released in America .... but i highly highly doubt it would happen anyway ....
