Jay: Good morning, you're with Myf, Jay and the Doctor, minus Myf...
The Doctor: Mm-hm.
Jay: And we are talking to Craig and Hamish, from the Vines.
Hamish: G'day
Jay: How are you doing there fellas?
Craig: Hello..good thanks.
Hamish (I think): Pretty good.
Jay: Now, ahh.. what's been going on with you guys since the Big Day Out?
Craig: Ahh, we've been recording some demos in a studio and ahh... yeah so we're just looking towards doing the next album.
The Doctor: Sweet, already?
Craig: Yeah, yeah, we wanna try and put an album out once every year, if we can keep up with it. **slight laugh**
The Doctor: Really?
Jay: Wow, once a year!
Craig: Yeah, yeah.
The Doctor: That's a.. that's a very, that's a lot of pressure.
Craig: Yeah, well, hopefully we'll be starting.., this year.
**all laugh**
Craig: ...and continuing, heh.
Jay: I reckon we can play this, that statement you just made, back to you, on this date, every year.
**all laugh**
Jay: 'What's happened man?'
Craig: Ah, I don't know, I'm.. I was wrong.
----------------
Jay: On Triple J, it's the Vines.
The Doctor: And ah, we're gonna have some new Vines later this year, so has promised, Craig Nicholls and Hamish who are in here. Now, you've got some shows coming up, I just wanna talk about uhm the... d- you know, since the whole Annandale stuff, and all the, you guys took a break and stuff and then you're back on the trail, do you have any, are there any sort of rules, or stipulations that you can make now about, about touring and and the rigors of it and stuff?
Craig: Uhm... well, we just try and, we don't try and do anything ridiculous and uhm, hopefully it'll work out for us so, yeah the.. just yeah, not to make it too like, full-on.
Jay: And do you find, Craig, that people sort of tip-toe around you, uhm about, over that issue 'don't smash me...'
The Doctor: Very, very much in the way we're doing...
Craig: **slight laugh** No, n- I don't think so, like I, I don't, I hope not. Nah, maybe uhm, a few years ago maybe, but I'd like to think I'm getting a bit older now.
Jay: Yeah.
Craig: Well, I know I am **slight laugh**
The Doctor: Well, you can't really stop that, but do ever get to pull out the card and say, like if there's something you don't want to do go ' ahh, no, I'm not doin' that. Sorry, I don't have to do it, crazy guuuy, it's alright'
**all laugh**
Craig: Yeah...
Hamish: You should actually start doing that, it's quite a good get-out-of-jail-free card.
Craig: Well, yeah, I've got a note from the Doctor and...
**all laugh**
Craig: That will help me out.
----------------
The Doctor: And how is ah, Brad fitting in the band?
Craig: He's going well, yeah.
Hamish: He's going really well, yeah. We just did those recordings, uhm, some pre-production and it was the first time we've had him in the studio and he really stepped up to the plate, it was great.
Jay: And really, he's playing bass, so you know, how wrong can he be?
**all laugh**
Hamish: Just imagine him playing guitar but only one string at a time.
Jay: Yeah, yeah, and no one will hear it, it's great!
The Doctor: Very good.
The Doctor: Is he into smashing instruments as much as you are?
Craig: Ah, I don't think so, uhm, but I think...hopefully...we're not a bad influence on him, like he just bought a new bass guitar, so I don't think he will.
The Doctor: Right, 'cause what I love about, when I saw you guys at, uhm, and you were the secret band at Splendour In The Grass, the smashing, your smashing of instruments is so... it's almost like an after-thought..
Craig: Yeah. **slight laugh**
The Doctor: It's sort of, like everyone is quiet, everyone is sort of, stopped...oh no..and you're gonna come back and smash it again.
Craig: Yeah.
The Doctor: It's wonderful! You're very, you're very ahh, very.. complete. You know, you don't like to get...
Craig: Yeah...well, yeah, at Splendour I, I just found myself on stage and I just, the crowd was screaming and then I just, yeah I couldn't stop.
Hamish: If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing properly.
Jay: Yeah, that's right.
The Doctor: Well thank you very much for coming in, cheers guys.
Craig: Thanks a lot.
Hamish: **Can't quite make it out, I think he says "Thanks again"**
