I'm just wondering if the Vines should be considered a cult band due to their fanbase, unique style of music etc makes me think whether they should be considered a cult band or not

Umm, its hard to say.. you might think melodia did shit but it did reach 12 on the ARIAS and thats not underground/cult at all really. I know what you mean though seeing that they are nearly forgotten to the mainstream world.

It doesn't really bother me that no one in my town knows about The Vines. I like to feel cool for some reason.

I don't want to choose "Yes, they are a cult band" because I don't think they are really... they're not overly underground, and enough people know about them, though their fans aren't in the hundreds of millions if you get what I'm saying, but by the same token, I don't want to choose "No. they're too mainstream" because they aren't >_<

umm. cant choose the both.. because even though they arent so fame like they used to, but they arent a cult. cos they dont do underground. i mean, they arent so indie, right? Mtv still remember them though..

But they arent a mainstream too.. They arent do so much comersials like they used to. and now a lot of people had already forgotten them..

ya they definately are a cult band.

i say they're a cult band cuz they seem to have really devoted fans, like myself. like those who love them LOVE them.
I know other bands like maybe the strokes have the same kinda fanbase but they are also still pretty well known amongst mainstream listeners.

I'd say the vines are more like BJM. Like well known but not really popular amongst mainstream audiences.

i'd say no matter what the vines will sell records. Maybe not a lot of them but a consistent amount based on all of us devoted fans.

i don't think they're a cult band as their songs are heard in almost every MTV or VH1 production, show, whatever.
but they arent really mainstream either.
they're sth inbetween, but i have voted the second option.
