I think all of these bands have changed their songs to pop rock, i was just wondering who other people thought had changed the most!
I think Silverchair take the cake though......

Greenday changed for the worst. Red Hot Chili Peppers were harder and funkier but I still like them. Incubus i'm not familiar with, nor Silverchair but i'm surprised they've gotten softer because they were e15 when they came out...
Elvis Costello wen't from New Wave to Jazz, I think that's an even bigger step.

i said red hot chilli peppers. i still like them, but their music is kind of pop now

I love so much Red Hot Chili Peppers!
Yah, maybe they´ve changed a little bit but I think the band has changed the most is Green Day, in my opinion they´re growing so commercial... They´re not the same as in Dookie.

Tinkerbell
Apr 26 2005, 08:38 PM
Greenday aren't selling out. They're not kids anymore and the music has grown to reflect that.

Apr 26 2005, 08:39 PM
i dont know, they are everywhere on tv. at least in germany
i like green day, but they dont really need the whole attention of the media.

I doubt they have much to do with how often they're on TV. They just made a record, they're touring, getting video play...would you have them hide out in the basement and refuse to be seen instead?

I don't know any 'old' RHCP, but I really dislike the new stuff. I really do.
Just because Green Day are on TV, it doesn't mean they've 'sold out'. They don't seem to have to me. There doesn't seem to be much point in not going on TV just so that you don't get many fans to me. Further, I really don't think you can say that a band who've just created a 'rock opera' rallying against the government and the Iraq war can hardly be said to be 'sell-outs'.

Apr 27 2005, 03:45 AM
green day havn't sold out
they've just been around a while, and kept a pretty large international fan base the entire time, and have gotten to, I guess, a higher status
they're just getting alot of attention now because they've stuck it out for 10+ years, without REALLY much of a change. I mean I think alot of their new stuff sounds like their old stuff...just a bit more mature
I dunno, I think they're just becoming modern legends and such and getting all the publicity that comes with it

maybe you're right about green day. that they are now getting credit for their whole work the past 10 years. i just thought they were comercial, because 5 years ago, they werent that often on tv , but still famous
rhcp changed alot. they kind of changed after every album. at first (before under the bridge) they were funky. those songs are so funny, i love to dance when i hear them

I voted green day, not that there is a problem with that, id say they've gotten better, but the song boulevard of broken dreams got really played out, i loved it untill i heard it every 15 minutes on Much Music

I think Silverchair have changed the most. Their first album was total Nirvana style, and by their last album they were much more mellow and poppy. I like their newer stuff better.
