I'm still listening to Melodia but I tend to listen to their B sides more. Melodia in my opinion isn't their best work but its still brilliant

i listen to all four at regular intervals, or sometimes all mixed up on a compliation, but lately i've been stuck on winning days again... i think melodia gets over-analysed for what it really is, i think its just meant to be a fun album, like someone previously said on here.

these excerpts from twelvemajorchords sum up my view very well:

"Talent is a funny thing. Some people are good at making tables. Some excel at always being on time. And others, like Craig Nicholls, are wholly accomplished in the intricate art of three-minute long pop songs. Let’s get one thing straight here, and I apologise if this sounds a little too obvious: but when pop is done well – it’s done really fucking well - and the soft/loud guitar pop dynamic seems to prove this perhaps better than any other musical guilty pleasure."

"Melodia’s not rocket science, and it’s definitely nothing new, but it is a hell of a lot of fun. And before the soap opera that was The Vines, I’m certain fun is all Craig Nicholls ever really wanted."

yeah I seem to be playing Winning Days a lot lately, mostly because Sun Child is on that, Vision Valley is getting a good spin too.... well funny term "spin" coz it's on my ipod and that doesn't spin

Yeah I think Melodia is a fun album..... the cover looks fun too

well, when i read all the lyrics in Melodia, i was wondering like "Is Craig in love?" or kinda.

almost every song has a straight forward meaning and it seems to me that Craig is trying to say "My life is this simple."
and it seems to me, too, that Craig wants all of his band's fans to keep their faith to The Vines.
it's like saying "Just wait a moment. We'll be back. WE seriously will be back. we will be back to the moment where you all my fans start to like us. we mean in H.E. so wait a moment."

idk. idk why am i trying to think like that. trying to think that i am Craig. it's suck. i know.
but it all comes out in my head when i'm listening to Melodia.. so... yeah. i'm trying to make a picture of it *and that's hard*

hope you know what i'm saying.

I still listen to songs from 'Melodia' every day as I listen to The Vines every day. When a band becomes your favourite band, you seem to dedicate your time worshipping the music, try to be at one with it and hope that one day you can make the impact that your favourite band had on you, on someone else.

I obviously think with Craig's ability to create amazing music, that 'Melodia' could of been better BUT it is still a very contageous & brilliant album. 'Orange Amber' being my personal highlight.

On the topic of my favourite album, erm... Tough one, 'Highly Evolved' is what got me into the band so I shall always have a slight favouritism towards it but like everyone else has mentioned, 'Winning Days' is truly one of the greatest albums of all time. 'Vision Valley' is very underrated, so much energy & power.

of course

in simple... no.

Im sorry but i find the album really weak. Its my least favourite out of them all. Infact only a couple of tracks made it as far as my itunes and ipod... and i can't remember the last time I listened to them.
Still listen to HE WD and VV and some of the b sides though

Melodia isn't their best album but i still listen to it a lot, A girl i knew is the track i'm into right now. But i think they are trying to get back to their old and more complex stuff from their early years with Highly Evolved and Winning Days.
sextape

I'm not a huge fan of Melodia, but I was listening to True as the Night in my car today, and I fell in love with it. It has that same 'do not operate heavy machinery' effect on me as Spaceship does. Beautiful, beautiful song. It gave me chills.

I forgot to put the album onto my computer before I left for England, so I listened to it for the first time since last November recently. It was really nice to re-discover it, I'd forgotten how much I like this album icon12.gif .

I really like it too, best since Highly Evolved in my opinion, the ballads are really good and the fast songs are great for riding bike, gives me energy biggrin.gif

I like Melodia but it does not compare it High Evolved. The only thing that comes close to that album is Winning Days. Melodia and Vision Vallet and kinda a different style.
