Hey! I'm writing a 2500 word essay on the act of creation in relation to a personality type and I've chosen to do it on Craig and how aspergers syndrome affects his song writing and the process that he undergoes in writing music.
I remember reading bits and pieces on here about Craig's writing style ages ago but i'm having trouble finding them again. Can anyone help me out? I'd be really grateful! i'll even post my completed assignment up here

One of the ones i remember reading was an interview with Patrick Matthews just after he left the vines, saying that Craig would record one bit of a song at a time. If anyone knows where i can find that interview that'd be great.

You know, i think there was an article in NME some time ago about how aspergers affects people who have it...it should be on the NME site, in the Vines' history. Also, is this a university essay? cos in that case there arr lots of good pshycology databases! good luck, i'd really like to read the finished product!

Try the Vines Press thread. Not all articles are in there, far from it, and not all of them deal with his songwriting process, but it can be a start.

This is from a pretty recent article:

“Craig’s got a few demos he wants to put down,” he says. “He’s really prolific most of the time. He will actually come up with the whole thing inside his head, the guitar patterns and the lyrics, and have a pretty clear idea of how things should go, even down to the harmony parts.

“He’ll be singing a lead vocal and you’ll go to record it and suddenly he will be singing a harmony. He just says, ‘I hear it in my head’.

“I’ve got a real admiration for his ability to do that. It’s one of the things that makes him unique.”
