Whats do you think.... its a toss up between melodia and highly evolved. You?

Vision Valley. Perfect mix of dark and brooding angst (nothin's comin), pop (don't listen to the radio), melancholic space rock (spaceship) and warm summer harmonies (take me back).

followed by Highly Evolved.

What I do know for sure is that if the band could have somehow picked the best songs from each album and put them on a double, it would be the best damn double album in the history of rock music!

i have to say that winning days is still my favorite. i cant decide between highly evolved and melodia, they are both amazing. and vision valley is a good record, but obviously not as good as the other ones.

All their albums has something special to it so picking one album is difficult because they're so good. But if I have to choose then I have to go with Winning Days. It has been my favourite for a long time.

That's you're opinion Stefanie. It's certainly not obvious to me.
TBH, Winning Days is my least favourite. Don't get me wrong, there are some great songs on it (Winning Days, TV Pro) but the songs Drown the Baptists, Fuck the World and Evil Town sound WAYYYYYYYY better on the live Channel V concert. Also, the amount of over the top hype in the run up to its release ensured that it was always going to be a bit of an anti-climax.

As previously stated, all the albums are good.

As an aside, I've just finished reading a review of Melodia in NME, which predictably slated the album. Slagging of Nichols, the band and most of the songs, it failed to even mention the stand out tracks True as the Night and Merrygoround. But you know what? I'm kinda glad that pretty much everyone hates The Vines these days. I couldn't give a toss what the Music Press thinks or says - I know good music when I hear it!

OOOH! Link/scan, please? I'd like to read it, NME always brings the laughs into this household.

I like Highly Evolved the most, but thats not really in direct comparison to the other albums. I like it the best because it reminds me of me.... I just wish it had Autumn Shade 2.

for me it's highly evolved and a lot of the b-side stuff an non -album tracks.
HE because it's so well done(recording)the songwriting is so strange sometimes and all feels so free and pure, 1969 is like a trirp,i think it just has quality. melodia seems a bit calculated to me, mechanic if you will. the songs and melodies are very reduced to what the songs need and thats good songwriting I think

and yeah as2 on HE would make the perfect album and old sunchild demo, I like it's crappy sound tongue.gif

winning days.
mezziie
ALL OF THEM. =D

Melodia. Is brillant
Loaded Mind
Highly Evolved or Melodia. But the four of them are almost equal to me anyway.

vision valley <.<

arbitrary world
It's a tough one for me.

I'd say Winning Days had the most affect on me at that time...I was obsessed with that record. Then Vision Valley, then Highly Evolved, then Melodia. Melodia's on the bottom because it's the only album that has a track I just don't like and can't listen to at all (Kara Jayne - that song is SOOO SLOW AND BORING, OMFG).

It's not so much which ones I like the most because I love them all for different reasons. It's more the personal effect it had on me and how much of a part of my life it was at the time. Like I have distinct memories of my life around the time WD and VV came out precisely because they came out. I remember sitting in my room and playing WD songs on the guitar for hours. I remember walking around my freshman year in Uni listening to "Don't Listen to the Radio" and "Gross Out" on repeat all day until VV came out and I bought the album at the nearby CD store.

lol but oh it is, to my ears. "Mary Jane" is very much the winning Jane in my totally nonsensical battle of the Jane songs.
