Because now I'm totally prepared to go anywhere in any city to go see them.

They're going to tour right?
Sexhair
Fuck, I hope they come to Texas. Tickets to SXSW were too expensive, so I missed my chance. sad.gif
angela
^ I missed my chance too when they played at the Bowery Ballroom...annoying 18 and over show dry.gif
they'll probably come to the US again though, or at least I hope they do
SlashNX
theyve just come back from the US.

UK first!!!! lol
tymaster1969
No. They did like two shows here. and it was nowhere near where i live. mad.gif they need to come somewhere near me. and i would pay any money to go see them.
SlashNX
when they were in the UK (all the way back in 2006) they only did 2 shows (ignoring reading and leeds fest)

guess theres a pattern.

UK 2 shows and a fest
US 2 shows and a fest!
tymaster1969
Ha. yeah. they should do like an ivy league tour with the silents and youth group to promote everyones new album her in the US and UK. ohmy.gif
that would be cool

Well, they're doing an Aussie tour in November (I think), and unless they play some random shows overseas in September and October (when there's no shows announced as of yet), it seems the rest of the world will just have to wait. And wait. We're used to it, anyway.

Yeah, but it's irritating having to wait. I know why it's like this but still. If I had money I would so buy a ticket to Australia and see them. But I keep hoping that they will come here at some point smile.gif
HyperMusic
they should have signed with Sub Pop...that would be pretty intense...because the bands on that label tour like crazy and have great quality vinyl pressings....

anyway

arbitrary world i pretty much love your sig picture, just wanted to point that out there =)

did the vines tour a bunch during HE and WD?

Yeah, they toured heaps to promote HE, and quite a lot to promote WD until the whole Annandale business happened, and they had to cancel the rest of the tour . wink.gif

I think your forgetting that The Vines cant tour as much because of Craigs aspergers syndrome!!

yeh they toured a lot during HE and WD, and thats what caused the breakdown!

Im pretty sure u only named SubPop because its there 20th birthday and uve suddenly read their name in a magazine!
Subpop are just one of those cool names to namecheck because they propelled all the grunge bands, signing The Vines up to them wouldnt have done their reputation any good. People always dig at them for "trying to be like Nirvana" and signing to Sub Pop wouldnt have helped!

I'm pretty sick of people bashing me on this forum.

Yes, it is Sub Pop's 20th anniversary, but I am a huge fan of quite a bunch of artists on that label, and they seem damn happy to me, and very well advertised for a lack of better words. Ever heard of The Shins, Iron and Wine? Wolf Parade is everywhere in all the local record stores around me because Sub Pop sends promos to them to put up.

No reference to Nirvana. Just coincidence.

And yes, I did kind of forget about how they don't want to tour more....oh well. Still a US label that would treat them right.

As if people constantly went around picking bands on the basis of what label they were signed to.

laugh.gif thanks bb. There are quite a bit of artists I like on Subpop, so I definately wouldn't mind them on that.

No but it would be adding fuel to the fire in the backlash the Vines get for apparantly "trying to hard to be like Nirvana".
It wouldnt be a wise move.

Anyone that thinks The Vines are trying to be the next Nirvana thinks so because NME or whatever wank magazine told them so, and signing or not to a specific record label will not change their opinion in any significant way.

Again........ I didnt say that, i said it would add fuel to the firer.... it would give them another thing to their "list" of so called things that the Vines do to immitate Nirvana.

I dont aggree with them at all, Im just saying thats how it will go down with them.

Anyone that thinks The Vines are trying to imitate Nirvana has probably not heard much of The Vines (or Nirvana, for that matter), let alone taken any interest in what label they were signed to. rolleyes.gif
