The comeback single for The Vines will be titled 'He's A Rocker'. The single from the forthcoming album 'Brain Dead' will be released at the end of June.

'He's A Rocker' was debuted live at SXSW and the band has continued to perform the track at recent gigs.

'Brain Dead' will be released independently through Ivy League while for band shops for a deal internationally.

After three albums, The Vines left EMI and Capitol Records and began work on the new record in LA last November.

EMI/Capitol will release a best of The Vines around the same time as 'Brain Dead'.

The producer is Rob Schnapf, who worked with them on 'Highly Evolved' and 'Winning Days'.

Brain Dead will be released in July.

But I guess it makes sense, since the arses at Capitol rescheduled the release of that Best Of again, as the article states?
Still, the album is finished, the single is confirmed, they're a functioning band and have a record deal, I'd like the album now please. They had better at least play some shows in the mean time.

The title has not been finalized, according to manager Andy Kelly.

No, Craig still has about three different titles at the moment, I saw this today [the article on Undercover.com], but I think they have taken something he said in an interview about calling the next tour "Braindead 08" and turned it in to the album title. It was a typical Craig joke but they've run with it!

An official release will be posted as soon as everything is completed.


Best of is already available in the states.

haha, i SO knew that. i couldnt imagine the album being called brain dead, i mean it would be cool but craig said in the sxsw interview he doesnt want to confirm anything...so...yeah, lets just wait and see..

so i recorded gonzo and the show that was on afterwards- some live SXSW stuff. We know the vines are on gonzo, but they might not be on the show afterwards. will watch it later and report back... then we can try and figure out how the hell to get it off my skybox and onto my puter for your personal enjoyment.

When I search up The Vines on the MTV2 site, I get something. I don't know if it's new or not.

It's on MTV2, which is a UK channel, but I've got it as well so I saw it too. It was great.
I tell you, it's a whole other experience watching them on TV screen for a change.

First, Get Free video was shown - other bands played acoustic sets at SxSW for Gonzo but apparently The Vines didn't so they just showed Get Free.
Craig and Ryan were interviewed by Lightspeed Champion as a part of his video diary, and the whole clip is only about 2 minutes long, but hey - it's very exciting to see the boys doing so well.

I've recorded the show on my shitty camera so the quality is approximately the same as if I had drawn every frame myself with a crayon, but since tyler recorded it properly, I'm just posting this half-decent transcript (again, done with a crayon) if anyone wants to spoil the excitement of watching the clip and not knowing what they're going to say beforehand.

And, just so you know, Ryan looks drop dead gorgeous.

EDIT: And oh, I didn't catch the name of the show or what time it is on, but there was a banner saying something about interviews and acoustic performances from The Vines, MGMT, Lightspeed Champion and some other acts after the show - it could be just a re-run, but MGMT weren't in today's Gonzo so fingers crossed that it is a different show - MTV2 has a bunch of SxSW related shows this weekend; I think I'll have to watch them all.

Listening to it again, I realised I made some embarrassing mistakes with the transcript, but what matters is that I think Craig says they're doing Glastonbury ( ) and Ryan says 'Glasto' and then something I can't make out. Mentioning Glastonbury explains why Dev mentions it later and Craig continues to say they might be able to do something to put him on the bill. I've checked the lineup (both so-far-confirmed and rumoured artists) but The Vines haven't been mentioned yet. I sure hope my hearing isn't playing tricks on me!
