Hi everyone,
I'd like to start saying I live in Chile, a country located really far away from this fantastic musical scenery, but still I consider myself a truly faithful fan who's always admired The Vines' talent, that's why I'd like to complain about a particular situation that seems, in my opinion, unusual. My father’s a lawyer, and I could easily sue those “wonderful competitions”, which seem to be no more than simple fraud that play illusions on the hard-working public.
I’ll tell you, my friend Sara Vega Bravo participated in a competition that took place in 2006. She was the winner, as it was pointed out in this forum, and the prize hasn’t been handed in yet. This which seems a real deceit, has turned into a real anguish to Sara, for, as you can clearly make out, this is her favourite band and she made a great effort in this contest (I even participated, and helped her, and I am a faithful witness).
We want no more excuses, and the prizes to be handed in, otherwise we’ll find ourselves forced to get this bad news to the band or its manager, so they are informed about the poor seriousness, or take even more drastic steps, we would honestly like to come to an agreement as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely, a faithful fan.
Natalia.

i think we all understand your impatience for the prizes
but you also need to realise that the mod's of this forum are funding this competition with their own money, and it's incredibly expencive for the postage.
they're trying as hard as they can, but no one is loaded with money. and as for sarah's prize, well it's flipping huge and it would cost more than the prize itself to send that thing, so you have to understand the time it's taking.
regardless of whether sara won or not, we all put just as much hard work in as she did so i hardly think whether she won is even relevent here. it's not as if it gives her more of a right to her prize than anyone else.
i have to say if you didnt recieve any fulfillment out of knowing that you helped to promote the album of one of your favourite bands, i have to seriously question how faithful you really are.
to put it bluntly, stop being so selfish.

This post made me feel good about myself and think "Well, I should look at it this way... at least I'm not terrifyingly obsessive".
Stop being an idiot.

How about Sara pays for the postage if she wants the prize so badly?

how about she just funds the whole thing
then we'll see who's complaining.

'my daddy's a lawyer, we're going to sue you'
c'mon... you're going to put thousands of dollars into a legal action over a prize that is worth less than 20. The court will throw you out and tell you to grow up.
You make this place look like even more of a school playground.

I do understand that its taking a ridiculous amount of time for me to get all of these prizes together and get them sent out. And Sara can rest assured that its barely ever put in the back of my mind. I havn't given the prizes to anyone else or hoarded them for my own keeping. And everyone here totally appreciates and knows all the hard work she put into it.
But at this time I have little expendible income due to a lot of personal reasons. Anything I do purchase for myself pretty much adds to debt and I'm trying to get all of that taken care of before I spend at least a hundred more getting the prizes out.
I know its been a long time but I can assure you its not deceit. At the time that I started up the competition I had a lot steadier income and not nearly as many bills coming at me so it seemed more than doable. It's still doable but you have to give me time.

If they haven't money ..well do not contest !!! in my personal opinion. I dont wanna be rude cause i really like this forum but for me its very disappointing not receive any answer or excuse. Well I tell you, im a really fan of the vines and i love his music, even i have a page dedicated to them. (We are three girls).
http://www.thevineschile.tk many fans in Chile and believe me if i dont have money for pay the prize well its very clearly that i dont created "competitions", cause i buy the prizes before.
honestly...

I have given answers and my excuses. And like I mentioned before I had more expendible money when I started the competition than when it ended. The prizes I have. I bought them, and received them. Thats not the problem. Its buying packaging and shipping materials and postage that is holding me back. I have some now. I've been slowly collecting shipping materials. But a lot of this stuff is fragile and needs quality stuff and there are the actual shipping costs and shipping insurance on top of things, especially the autographed and more pricey things I have to get insurance on.
And I havn't heard a single complaint from Sara. She's been completely sweet and understanding with me while I've been going through this. She has every reason to be annoyed with this and has had always been very patient and mature about the whole thing.
All I ask is that you join me in being annoyed with the situation and not with me. There have been many financial issues I've had in the past 2 years that have been beyond my control.

I just wanted to say that i think its great that you went out of your way to set the whole competition up and pay for everything yourself, you did something great for the band and for the members of this board, and i think the majority of people understand that sometimes things happen that are out of your control and are patient enough to recieve the prizes, you have stated on a number of occasions that you hadnt forgotten about the competition and that you were having trouble financing it, which is pretty understandable . . . anyway i just wanted to say thanks to you for everything and i hope that this doesnt discourage you from trying to do something nice in the future

oh jeez, could you please stop being a complet fucktard?
"my dad's a lawer" like if you were going to sue the forum because of prizes. It's not like you register here and ask everything you want, life's not that easy. You should rather thank Lizzy for all her huge and nice efforts she has made all over years for us on the board, and of course the band itself. She took her own time to do great thing and by the way, first of all the competition was about making Vines promotion. I reckon she's already really nice to give us gift for doing this because real Vines fans won't complain about little stuff if they really love the band and appreciate ideas like that so they get to sell loads of albums which means you, who live in Chile, would be able to, maybe, see them live at least. What you don't seem to realize is that SHE actually bought all the prizes with HER money and not The Vines's. Have you ever sent something worldwilde? No! & it cost a lot, really so i totally understand her. So stop all this mess which is usefull for nothing but pissing her and us all off. Thank you Lizzy for everything

& if Sara's not happy, then she can come and talk by herself.

Yeah sure, undermining all the hard work organisers and contestants put into the competition by calling it a fraud and a deceit sure did come across as respectful.

but you addressed it to everyone... as if you thought we would all take your side.
It's clear that everyone is doing all they can within their capacity to sort this thing out given difficult circumstances. Circumstances which I am sure have been made clear to you before.
The respectful thing to do would have been not to complain, but to have been patient and sent an email to one of the mods saying that you just wanted an update, but that you were willing to be patient. Trying to hang your washing out to dry in here wasn't the right thing to do at all.
The prizes will come, just sit tight and try to be understanding.

This thread has highly amused me.
Yano what, my dad has a lawyer and i'm gonna sue you ALL for pounds and pounds unless you give out the prizes that we were rewarded with for promoting our favourite band...
And then i'd very much like some slash written for me personally offa you lot, i'd like one of the band members for a night and i'd like them to write a song about how polite im being about this.....
I'd also like to see a flying pig, or i'll sue you for everything but the clothes offa your backs.
Yes, not just the organisers, ALL of the forum members.
Because clearly everyone thinks it's all your fault about economy and the post.
