I'd rather it was perfect and that they were fully behind it, and that I had to sit around whinging and being patient than them put it out and it not be.
It's easy to forget how much more there is to do for an album once the recording is out the way. That's exaggerated even more-so with having to find new labels, and making sure Craig is ready for the tour.
I'd hold fire until we hear something from someone who actually knows before we start panicking- who can we ask?
MisplacedKeys
^^ I know, I'm just selfish by nature. *sigh* But, there's the Golden Plains gig in less than a week so I hope my selfish side will be sated. New songs being played and all, right? Rite, guys? unsure.gif
mooshell
^YEAH!!! Mid-year isn't really that far away! Just a few months...Plus we got the upcoming shows (and possibility of them playing a new song) to look forward to soon! I really doubt they'll push it back anymore since all the songs are finished. They just need to get the album together and find a record label to put it out...
tyler
plus they usually release a single a month or so before the album is due, so we'll probably hear something at the end of next month I guess. assuming we'll get a may release.
MisplacedKeys
Or they'll pull a NIN move on us and release the thing without any of us knowing anything about it.

no, really.

But still better than what EMI did to Art Brut - released a single without the band themselves knowing anything about it. I'm just glad that our boys aren't on Capitol/EMI anymore.
stephi
yea i agree
mooshell
That would be dumb. Since they're you know, "on the verge of completing an album he is confident will restore his band's standing on the world's charts." and all. tongue.gif

The Vines caught their break with 2002’s platinum Highly Evolved, but singer Craig Nicholls nearly killed their momentum with his freakouts, from trashing dressing rooms to berating fans. Since getting diagnosed in 2005 with Asperger’s syndrome, a mild form of autism, Nicholls has been focusing with his band on their fourth disc, helmed by Evolved producer Rob Schnapf. “Nothing can hold us back now,” says Nicholls. “Unless I die in a plane crash.” The fourteen new cuts include the string-laden “True as the Night” and the heavy-pop tune “Merry Go Round.” Says Nicholls of the Vines’ return, “We’re coming back, and it’s gonna be madness.”

QUOTE(Vine Freak @ Mar 8 2008, 11:17 AM) *

But wired song titles.

I'm kind of leaning towards the option the article is a joke. unsure.gif Those song titles just sound really off to me, which will serve as a source of embarrassment if it turns out those songs are indeed on the album.
Songbird
wow, this is great smile.gif !!! 14 new songs!!! i dont care about the song titles, what can they say about the quality of the music?! nothing.
im soooooooooo excited! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Vine ♠ Child
Why does everybody think the song titles are so weird? ...if indeed the article is even correct on that....

Motley Crue actually has a song called "Merry-Go-Round"..and its really good.. cool.gif
mooshell
Awesome news!!! w00t.gif

I'm a little suspicous of it too, but if it's true...song titles are always weird anyway. You can't really judge a song by that. But judging by these the songs sound pretty fun haha. I wanna see all the song titles now! tongue.gif

I'm not saying they're bad, they're just not quite what I expected .... They don't sound very Craig-ish, to me at least. But I'm sure the songs will be brilliant.

Or a merry-go-round. Only that wouldn't get them far. But at least it would be in the spirit of the album.

Ooooh! I would love it if their promo pics would be taken on a merry-go-round! Each on their own horsey! Or all of them on one! w00t.gif *is overly excited already*

glad to hear we're getting closer. they've been so modest about albums in the past, I take this as a good sign. It's time for the vines rebirth people.

Yeah I see where you got that. I know it's described as a heavy-pop tune, but it also sounds like it would be psychedelic 'cause when I think of a merry-go-round, I think of swirly colors and all that good stuff. And you know that part in the Blues Riff demo, "We're seeing pictures..." always reminded me of a merry-go-round for some reason. headphones.gif

Apparently, the single has been previewed at the new Toorak Road venue in Melbourne without any of us knowing anything about it. huh.gif

"The Vines' new single was also previewed, running a typically succinct one minute and 51 seconds. The band have almost finished the first album for their new label, Ivy League, and will play it this weekend at Golden Plains." (source) (thanks Christine/SimplyDi-Vine for the heads up)

laugh.gif biggrin.gif I have a little mmore... The album should be released May/june or July 2008.

From rolling stones...

suggests that the album consists of 14 songs, of which two are titled “True as the Night” and “Merry Go Round”, but no official tracklisting has been published yet.
