fill your boots mate. Ok, I actually managed to do it now, I threw together a cover of so fresh, so clean last night in my drunken stupor... it's basically just a bag of ideas and it's by no means perfect. The solo is just a big jam and the vocals are a little on the rough side. It's just burning right now, i'll have it up in a jiffy.
....
k, here it is people. Things to bare in mind while listening to it:
1. it's just a bag of ideas
2. I did it while drunk
3. The solo was recorded through a shitty pre-amp making the sound quality a bit dodge as well as being made up on the spot
4. definately not my best work.
I'm going to re-do some parts of it sometime when I am less busy, I just wanted to post this here while it's a bit dead in the hope of getting a few feet tapping. Hope you like it anyway:

Great job! I like the guitar solo. But what's Giles Lane?
And I really hope our boys could do studio recordings of So Fresh, So Clean and Helter Skelter. Not that their performances were bad or anything, I'd just really like to have clear versions of Craig singing them.

Giles Lane is me.
my bands name is Twenty:37 (hence the sig) but obviously I was the only person who did this so...
I tried to make up the solo in Craig's guitar playing style as much as I could, think it kinda works. Writing mind blowing solos for a song made up of 2 chords and at this pace is hard.
PS- the album is most definitely not called ignition(remix) or whatever it was itunes called it... fuck that.
glad you guys like it anyway.
I can see so fresh so clean emerging as a b-side if they have time with rob to do it... it would be a waste of an album track if it appeared on the actual album. I think helter skelter was a one off thing and that video is as good as it's going to get.

I wholeheartedly concur. I'll take anything from unfinished lyrics, a recording of the sounds they make while asleep to bodily fluids and photographs of their footprints, I'm not particularly picky.

hmm.....ok a few things of concern in that photo.
well pointed out that they seem to have lost weight... I know we all thought it, but you were the big enough person to say it. Thank you! It seems the other symptoms are there too... hair loss and joint trouble.
Secondly, apparently we are plugging amps into our heads now, as well as using them with guitars, I know that's where Craigs ideas come from (i think) but I just think in the past it has worked best when skip that and just plug into guitars.
a few instrumental changes I feel we should have been told about. Ryan.. I think that's ryan (the weight loss has made it all so confusing) seems to have traded his guitars for a hockey stick.... now I'm no afficianado, but I'm not sure the ice hockey stick is a traditional rock and roll instrument. Hamish' switch to the kettle drums was something to be expected I guess...
Overall though, I like the look of the studio... looks like a really creative environment to me, I like what Rob Schnapf is creating for them to work in. Interesting that he choose to record them all at once rather than piece by piece.... I guess that lends to a more raw sound. Some producers use that method... rob isn't one I've known to do it. At last! the photo we have all been waiting for, how are you not all more excited about this?
(for those of you sat there thinking 'what......?' right now, I feel it only fair to point out that I have a very very very dry sense of humor)

bahahahaha, that made me laugh, and also, it's not plugged into his head, that's the mic. And it's Brad with the hockey stick. Just to clear that up.

Well, Craig did announce that they wanted to try out new instruments so the hockey stick might not be the strangest instument they used. In fact, a little birdie told me that there's a few lampposts gone missing around the studio and that strange didgeridoo-like sounds have been coming out of the studio ever since.

from ivy league records myspace:
The Vines Get Busy In The Studio
Work on The Vines' fourth album, their first with Ivy League, is careening along at a blistering pace, with four songs already in the bag. The band has reunited in LA with producer Rob Schnapf, who they worked with on 'Highly Evolved' and 'Winning Days', and there's a serious buzz in the studio over the new songs (no, a bee is not trapped in a speaker). The guys will be back in Australia for a festive break before heading back to the US of A in the new year to finish recording and mixing the album. We couldn't be more excited...
