Does anyone watch this show? I have seen every episode aired on Lifetime. It's my most favorite. Anyone else?

God, I love Sophia. But, I think Blanche is my favorite. She is just so Southern and so slutty.

Estelle dressed up as an old lady, to convince the producers that she was made for the role of Sophia.

They nailed Herb Edelman’s (Stan) lunchbox to the wall and took nude and semi-nude pictures of themselves and put them into the Blanche’s Boudoir calender which was used on the episode Twas The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Estelle found out she had won the part of Sophia when she was working on the movie Copacabana, playing the mother of Barry Manilow.
The late British Queen Mother was a fan of The Golden Girls and personally requested their presence at the Royal Variety Performance in 1988.
Susan Harris also created the sitcom, Soap.
The Golden Girls was a hit in over sixty countries.
Susan Harris went on to create Empty Nest (a Golden Girls spin-off, starring Richard Mulligan as Dr Harry Weston) which was set in the same neighbourhood as The Golden Girls and regularly featured Estelle as her GG character Sophia Petrillo. At that time Sophia was living back in Shady Pines.
Susan Harris also created an Empty Nest spin-off, Nurses, set in a Community Hospital in Miami. Rue McClanahan, Betty White and Estelle Getty made guest appearances in Nurses, as did Dr Harry Weston from Empty Nest.
The Golden Girls were nominated for over 60 Emmy Awards and won 10, including best comedy twice.
A British version of The Golden Girls was developed in 1993. It was called The Brighton Belles and was set on the South Coast of England, starring Jean Boht, Sheila Hancock, Wendy Craig and Sheila Gish. It was a disaster and was withdrawn before the end of it’s premiere season

I fucking love this show! Remember watching it on TV with my grandma when I was real little.
Whenever my brother and I would spent hte night at my Nana's or my grandma's when we were little, we watched the Golden Girls with them.

The GG's were so much better than Friends.
Agreed. I never did watch Friends, though. Hahaha. The Golden Girls were just on. It was a flashback episode about birthdays.

I believe that Sophia (Estelle) is the youngest of the four. Weird, huh?
