Does anyone think Craig sounds a bit like Julian Casablancas on the first verse of "Ain't No Room". And the bassline also kind of has a Strokes feel. I'd venture to say Craig was listening to "Is this It" when he wrote that song...although the song is much more sunny like Redd Kross or something.

probably should have spelled it "Strokiest" not Strokeist.

Well i actually think the strokes remind me of some older band, but i can't put my finger on what confused0006.gif but I think if you listen to most music you can hear other bands in them.

-- I think the start of Aint No Room kinda sounds like Julian a bit... wink.gif
-- but I love both bands so I don't care if they sound kinda similar in parts
-- but yeah... both bands have ventured off into different sounds anyway
-- so I don't think it matters really tongue.gif

I used to think the verse of Ain't No Room sounded nothing like Craig usually does... I guess its a little bit like Julian. It is The guitar work is kind of strokes-ish too. He was probably listening to the strokes when he wrote it.

Yeh these two bands definitely have similarities in their garage sounds. But a more definite find is the bass line for "In the Jungle." It's almost identical to The Doors' "Gloria." If it's an homage, they couldn't have picked a better band.

The Doors didn't write Gloria (or perform it, that I know of) it was written by "Them", Van Morrison's first band (think, Brown Eyed Girl).

They are a hodgepodge of rock's past but definitely not influenced by one or two bands in particular. Kind of a mix of Lou Reed's voice + "Waiting for the Man" by the Velvet Underground + The Cars + Television + maybe Gang of Four, I'm not sure.

^ You couldn't be more wrong... go to any serch engine and type in The Doors- Gloria... aside from VM writing it...lol. I mentioned The Doors' version because it's the one i like most
electricvogue
^ Here is the history of 'Gloria' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloria_%28Van_Morrison_song%29 it is primarily a Van Morrison song. Aparrently (where I was wrong) The Doors performed it once in concert and it got put on a live album though they never recorded it in studio. Van's version was much more succesful and better in my opinion.

I have the doors version of gloria, i adore the doors but i don't really like that song.

Are you sure they didn't do a studio recording, i don't remember it sounding live.

idk, the only album I can find it on is, "Alive, She Cried" which is a live album. If you can find a studio version lemme know, cause that'll be news to me.
