Australia loves Jet more than The Vines.
"Get Born" has been in the top 10 for over a year now (Since Sep 2003), but "Winning Days" didn't make a dent in the Aust. charts.
In Melbourne, Jet played a quickly sold out concert at "The Forum" early 2004 May/June thereabouts. What was to be their last official concert for 2004 (Just after the Triple M fiasco, and just before they cancelled Sydney) The Vines could not get crowds to fill "The Forum". This is despite both concerts being around the $40 dollar mark.
Luckily that night, along with 15-20 other people I managed to get "Winning Days" partially signed (Ryan and Craig) who seemed more than happy to pose for photos/sign stuff. Ryan was especially gracious to everyone. Unfortunately, I missed Patrick but Hamish seemed quite friendly as well.

I think they are, I think it is because of the song "Do you want to be my girl?" It was pretty pop for a while, on a lot of comercials, Vines are on a lot of stuff also but people dont know their name as much as they know "Jet" or maybe more people pretend to know who Jet is.

Without a doubt. Jet is more famous than the Vines. I dont have any statistical things to add to this (its way too early in the morning) but everyone I know knows AT LEAST one Jey song and like No Vines songs. Which is really sad.

Well I know lots of folks who dont know Jet but still whistle 'are you gonna be my girl'. The video was shown as much as 'Ride' actually but I heard it on the radio quite alot.
Jet were on No. 10 of the 'most wanted songs of the year' on that one radio station.
Someone from Australia once said that Jet are the 'new' Vines for Australia

I am thinking you were right about SaraNicholls' post Eatgrapes.

I was too tired to comprehend the possibilities.
There is a new band called "Neon" (I THINK) Who are also being hyped up. The little comment on the TV whilst the clip was playing was "From the people who bought you The Vines and Jet..."
I think its just the fact that they are both bands from Australia, Doing very well. (Jet for the most part but it was the Vines on the front of Rolling Stone! First Aussie band in 10 Years!!!!)

And the fact that they do share the same management team. Who knows.
