Fear and loathing in Las Vegas

it's weird but really good:P

Yeah, that movie's really great tongue.gif
First time I saw it I had been drinking and it was in the middle of the night. Guess that movie made me feel dizzy and stuff laugh.gif

Another weird movie is "Crash" not the movie from 2004 but the 1996 movie by David Cronenburg. It's about some people who fetishize car accidents.
It's just really weird huh.gif

I fail to see how nearly half the movies mentioned here are 'weird'. Pan's fucking Labyrinth, par exemple? I suppose that if there wasn't a storyline, it would be very bizarre. Except ... the plot is utterly clear. Use of fantasy and special effects does not automatically = weird. So... fail. And Secretary?! S&M isn't all that uncommon either.

That said, Du Levande is completely and utterly mental. I'm sure that in some strange Swedish way it makes a lot of sense, but I was at a loss for words. It's really good, though. Confusing as hell, but good.

The Mangler from 1995

When an accident involving a folding machine at an old laundry occurs, detective John Hunton decides to investigate. What he finds is the owner of the laundry, Bill Gartley. Meanwhile the folding machine has acquired a taste for the flesh of human beings, but is their more to Bill Gartley than meets the eye, and does he know what monster hides behind the machine?

To make a long story short:

A mangel is going after people. It starts to live and kill people. tongue.gif

It's a horror movie laugh.gif

Bad Boy Bubby.
It's an Aussie movie, but it's very sick and weired. It's about a mother that abuses her son and doesn't let him leave the house.

imbd says:
Constructing this film through random scenes, director Harmony Korine abruptly jettisoned any sort of narrative plot, so here we go: Solomon and Tummler are two bored teenage boys who live in Xenia, Ohio. A few years ago, a tornado swept through it, destroying more than half the town and killing the same amount, including Solomon's father. The film, from there, chronicles the anti-social adventures these two boys have. These include sniffing glue, killing cats, having sex, riding dirtbikes, listening to black metal, and meeting a cavalcade of quirky, bizarre, and scary people. These include a man who pimps his mentally ill wife to our anti-heroes, three sisters who play with their cat and practice becoming strippers, a black midget fending off the sexual advances of a troubled man (played by the director Harmony Korine), a 12-year-old gay transvestite who is also a cat killer, Solomon's mother who seems to be the only glimpse of sanity, two foul-mouthed six-year olds, and most importantly, a nymphlike skateboarder who walks around town wearing pink rabbit ears.

Stefanie, I totally agree with you on "Meet the Spartans". It wasn't really weird though; it was just the worst film I've ever seen.

cant we just go on talking about bad movies dan..?
Decomposing Trees
Recently watched Irreversible (an action akin to the title, har-har). Not weird in an abstract sense (although the plot was non-linear, and it's storytelling fashion deviated from the norm), just very different. How many other movies feature a graphic 8 minute rape scene, with the fallout playing out in twelve takes?!

Yes, yes, yes. The first half hour or so were hard to get through, found it disturbing on a really profound level..

Also, that movie contains a really great monologue. Here it is for your reading pleasure:

You see, no one's going to help you Bubby, because there isn't anybody out there to do it. No one. We're all just complicated arrangements of atoms and subatomic particles - we don't live. But our atoms do move about in such a way as to give us identity and consciousness. We don't die; our atoms just rearrange themselves. There is no God. There can be no God; it's ridiculous to think in terms of a superior being. An inferior being, maybe, because we, we who don't even exist, we arrange our lives with more order and harmony than God ever arranged the earth. We measure; we plot; we create wonderful new things. We are the architects of our own existence. What a lunatic concept to bow down before a God who slaughters millions of innocent children, slowly and agonizingly starves them to death, beats them, tortures them, rejects them. What folly to even think that we should not insult such a God, damn him, think him out of existence. It is our duty to think God out of existence. It is our duty to insult him. Fuck you, God! Strike me down if you dare, you tyrant, you non-existent fraud! It is the duty of all human beings to think God out of existence. Then we have a future. Because then - and only then - do we take full responsibility for who we are. And that's what you must do, Bubby: think God out of existence; take responsibility for who you are.

Perfume (The Story of a Murderer)

Oh, I loved that movie. Especially the part where everyone just started to go at it. laugh.gif It was.. weird. unsure.gif
Feedums
How the FUCK is Perfume 'weird'?

The only thing odd is the orgy, which by the way is a lot more logical in the novel.
CrazyDaisy
I try to avoid weird movies cause I usually don't feel very fine while I watch them
but I did see a sort of weird - as in unusual - but cute and entertaining movie - Murder by death.

I'll still say Palindromes.
If you dont believe me, just check out the poster and a quote from "mama sunshine": Last year, our special daughter Nainika ran away and... she didn't even have any legs. She wanted to return to her birthplace in India. Poor child. She didn't even make it as far as India, Tennessee.

The whole movie is a long What The Fuck?
It's not a bad one, it's not a good one but it's definitly weird.
I heard the director made similar but better ones, I guess I should check them out.

Why is Dancer in the Dark weird??

the science of sleep, very great and...special I think
Vine Freak
I love the science of sleep as well. It was quite weired and different, I liked it. I'm not normally fond of movies with subtitles but the movie was easy to follow.
Thomhatesmusic
subtitles? That movie is almost entirely in English....
Feedums
People who hate on subtitles make me sad, because if you find it impossible to read and watch a movie at the same time, you're a bit...

Well, there's no need to insult the mentally challenged, really, but you get my point.

I never said I hate movies with subtitles, they just aren't my favourite type of movie. So that's why I don't watch them!
Thomhatesmusic
I watched this movie.
I know there are about 4 moments where they speak approx 4 sentences of French/Spanish thats why I said "almost".
I just wanted to ridicule what you said, sorry you didnt get it.

Wild at heart wub.gif
I love that film but I agree that it's pretty weird.
Keaton
Yeah just everything about that movie was so surreal and otherworldly, in a deep southern fried kind of way haha

I mean what was Bobby Peru's deal? lol

And how theres that scene with that guy in the wheel chair near the end and he's like "Shit man! Same thing happened to me just last year!" and that guy is just smeared on the road. I was pretty wierded at that point. laugh.gif
Absynthe The Evil Angel
I Heart Huckabees is pretty weird... I like it though
Mulholland drive is extremely weird and I just can't grasp the story
Keaton
Haha I loved I Heart Huckabees, Mark Wahlberg was so cool as the fireman. Seriously tho, 9/10 people despise it, i work in a video store and its literally impossible to recomend it.

And yeh i hated Mulholland Drive. I wont go into it but yeah.
