Hoping this is worthy of a new thread. So I was just at the Tivoli, Brisbane, and I noticed on the plasma's they were advertising upcoming shows, I was only half paying attenton to them when I noticed in big words, THE VINES 14th April. What the!! And it came up numerous times, so I wasn't dreaming. If this is right, my dreams have come true. Can someone clarify this?

I don't know! That would be really great if it were true!!! If they had it up then that sounds pretty likely

...I hope so!!!!

theyre playing so much now lol its hard to keep up not its a bad thing
marilyn_monroe
Feb 11 2007, 11:23 PM
Yeah, I think it's great they're playing a bit, of course this is nothing like the way things were a few years back, but it's nice they can play a bunch of shows without it being too much.

Feb 12 2007, 05:12 AM
Yeah, I mean it would have to true? It wouldn't be much of a surprise I guess.. I just wasn't expecting anything but festivals for the time being, until they brought the new album out. And I thought it was strange since I hadn't heard anything about it.
I kind of like how their shows aren't too much of a big thing at the moment, but hopefully that changes soon of course! So if it is actually true, maybe they will go to other capital cities that missed out last year as well?
marilyn_monroe
Feb 12 2007, 05:43 AM
I sure hope they do more! Brisbane is close to the Gold Coast, but there wasn't a BDO in that city so maybe they feel they owe Brisbane
But do remember to get tickets (well I can't "confirm" this show but I would assume it's for real)
right when they go on sale seeing how fast those September shows sold out! That first Annandale one sold out in 2 minutes! And the others also very, very quickly. But I suppose that's a small venue...but the corner sold out too. So actually it seemed that those shows were definately in high demand...even if it doesn't seem like their shows are a big deal at the moment.

thanks for the heads up! i'll write vines mgmt for confirmation and check on any other possible shows. that is a week after they'll play the fesitivals, so it's not unreasonable to think they might play some shows that following week.

Lets hope that they play some shows *coughsydneycough* before then so you can come!!!

ok, thanks! checked the website for The Tivoli, and Ticketek as well, but found nothing. So I guess that means it was only decided very recently.. I can wait. The logical thing to do would be for me to call them, haha
And I would get tickets the minute they go on sale! whenever/ if ever that is..

Yeah I called the tivoli but they said they couldnt confirm it yet...

Feb 13 2007, 06:02 AM
I bet the ads weren't supposed to be up yet, it seems like they're always weird about "announcing" these kind of things. If she said she couldn't confirm it
yet then at least it sounds like they are possibly planning it, rather than her having no idea what you were talking about
dr robert
Feb 13 2007, 08:41 AM

yes she certainly knew what i was talking about, but she wasnt keen to confirm anything. It was kinda awkward...like asking someone out

i wonder how much they charge to rent?

They like to build up the suspense

...if i could go it would be very awesome, as long as its not so expensive, i might have to pay, mum would have just payed for all the Great Escape stuff or if its an over 18 gig again

(they should lay off thoes for another nine months)

You're the worst influence, Ali

Since I don't think I can go to Tasmania, I might be able to go to this one, I'm thinking that the plane tickets would cost less as well as the ticket to the show itself
allie9609
Feb 15 2007, 07:51 AM
I try to persuade people to go and see The Vines - now is that
really a bad influence?

Yay!!! You'll come!

Yep, the airfares to Brisbane are half those to Tassie. I really hope they confirm the shows soon

I'm really hoping this is the real deal. and I hope they make up their minds soon, it's not that far away!
but I've heard they are doing a Perth festival now? They are pretty much being festival whores. i'd be happy if they do this gig, before their new album, just so I can hear all their older songs live one more time before they ditch some of them for their new songs..
mia
Feb 15 2007, 11:06 AM
Airfares? i wish

for me a buss, first to Sydney for the festival, then home 7-8h, then up to South Port to stay at my dads 7h, then a train to Brisbane 1 1/2h

thats if its true and mum will alow me to go on my own...hhmm

I do know the Kempsey area, actually

. We used to holiday up at South West Rocks and had to travel into kempsey for shopping before they built the centre there. Sometimes we'd go into the surrounding areas too, so I've probably even been to your town

Sleep in the airport! I probably would be. If it's the 14th it's on a Saturday, so I'll need to either get a plane home that night, or early the next morning to be back for work anyway

Hmm. Maybe this isn't so do-able.

tickets go on sale 9th march i think. I don't know why they don't have it on their site yet either.. maybe they couldn't be bothered to change it that often.

Feb 24 2007, 10:30 AM
oh okay, and how much are the tickets do you know?
where do you buy them? sorry for the questions.

Feb 25 2007, 03:40 AM
you can get them heaps of places, ticketek site, tivoli site. ticketek booths. if you live close to the city, skinnys and rockinghorse. hmm if i had to guess, I would say they were anywhere around $30-40? give or take a few dollars. I don't know, how much were the sydney and melbourne shows last year? they may have increased since then..

Tickets at the Tivoli are usually about $60, and yeah, the JJJ gig guide says they're on sale 9th March.
Eek, I'm so excited - I've missed them twice at festivals cos I've decided not to go and the tickets have sold out before they've been announced!
um. pretty sure they won't be $60 but hey i'll look stupid if they are, yeah! but i've upped my guess to around $50.
I haven't been to a gig like this in ages.. will there be a pre-sale and who will be pre- selling them.
and what time will i need to the Tivoli to make sure I'm front centre.
kidding.

Eww, The Tivoli. I saw MCR there, didn't like the venue too much. I wonder why they're playing such a small venue in Adelaide. Make it all ages!

in melb the tickets are only $35
and when the toured last year they were only like $25 or so
so i dont think they would be very expensive

This show was my absolute fave Vines gig I've ever been to. I was completely blown away, they were amazing!

Fab from The Strokes and Har Mar Superstar came on and played the drums with Hamish during Fuck The World and Fab crowd surfed

. One VERY brave man

.
I left my camera at my friends house though

. I was so sad I forgot it!!! But Joey and Maddie took plenty of pics and some video so that'll get put up here sometime soon I think
