If you were lucky enough to head to Byron Bay’s Splendour In The Grass festival last July you would have caught a set by a so-called ‘secret’ act who blew the roof right off the bigtop! Ladies and gentlemen, the Vines are well and truly in fantastic form right now, hot on the heels of their best album yet - Vision Valley. Marking the return of the group from (supposedly) the brink of collapse, it’s an album that solidifies their standing as one of the world’s most exciting bands.
“It’s more raw, less produced than our first two albums,” says Vines’ singer/guitarist/songwriter Craig Nicholls, of his band’s third LP. “It still sounds alright, just a little more real.” Recorded in a Sydney studio with veteran Australian producer Wayne Connolly (best known for his work with Vines’ favourites You Am I), Vision Valley is full of the dynamite rock & roll and psychedelic meanderings the band are famous for. “Most people thought the band had broken up,” shrugs drummer Rosser, “so the expectation was zero as far as I’m aware.” Expect a dynamite performance and killer tunes when the Vines make a welcome appearance at The Great Escape this Easter!
**Many thanks to Ava Adore who caught this mention in the Brag and told Allie - I feel sure those two will be battling it out for first festival ticket purchased.
