a note on the first option:
if you click on any thread that has the most recent post in it within its section on the main page of the forum (the page with the list of forum sections) you should be taken immediately to the first unread post in that thread... so to the first post that you havn't seen
if the forum is messing it up and sending you to some part of the thread that you've already seen/read then option 1 applies to you

It think the forum is having problems with cookies so I want to see how many people have had problems

and Lizzy, I've got more a prob. Today I realised that the forum emailed me 2 mails titled "Topic Subscription Reply Notification ( The Vines Message Board )" in which it says like:

parrotwhat has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed
to titled "What are you listening to..."

and the thing is I've never ever subscribed to any topic here

(And I swear there's no one to fake me messing up here, because I just sign in my own computer and I'm not stupid to receive keyloggers or things and I've no enemy to do it)

well, I picked the "can't remember which posts you've read" option, because sometimes, I click on a topic, and it bring me to the post from a day or 2 ago, going back a page, even though I was just there a minute ago

I have a serious problem. I don't know whether it's my lousy computer or the board, but the add reply button doesn't work for me. When I click it, my Mozilla goes blank and nothing shows up no matter how long I wait. Any suggestions? Fast reply works fine, tho.

Capitol won't update their server to accomodate the massive amount activity that takes place on the forums

As Melba said, the forum is getting slower. Especially today. Perhaps an idea to delete the threads that havent been used in half a year or so?

the slowness has nothing to do with the threads
it has to do with not having a powerful enough server to host the level of activity that takes place here and on the other websites and forums in the same server

bots always being logged in can take up a bit of that
but the amount of threads is fine

in fact about 200 were deleted just a few months ago and the forum didn't get any faster

I can't even do math! I have a learning disability called dyscalculia (a rare form of dyslexia that relates to math)-and it got me out of taking math classes forever. I didn't learn that I had until late 2005/early 2006. I'm lucky if I can 1 and 1 and get 2.

There's stuff on the Internet about dyscalculia. Just type it into a search engine, and whole bunch of pages comes up. There are testing options for it-look into getting testing for it. But a lot of the testing options are very expensive. Colleges and universities might test for it for a low cost.
When I found out that I did have it, and then I did some research about it, it actually made sense to me.

the forum was down for ages for me. it just said "page cannot be displayed".

sometimes it just loads really slow, but i think that might be my internet. it's been odd lately.

edit: OH. i just remembered. when i got an email from the forum (subscribed threads) it keeps redirecting me to earlier pages. it's kind of annoying.

All the forumsunlimited forums went down, so I'd say it was a problem with the server and wasn't anything wrong with this site specifically. This seems to happen a couple of times a year, and yep it's annoying but there's nothing anyone can really do about it when it happens but wait till the forumsunlimited people fix it . Oh well at least it's back I suppose .

Thats happening to me too. Topics have been taking about 5 minutes to come up.

Ive had wait 10-15 minutes, only to get a web page is not responding page!

Now, I'm having a problem with the reply feature! It'll only let me reply once, and then I can't post in another topic. And I can't quote anything, either!

If that is so, it's because you have your display mode set to 'outline'. You fix that to normal by clicking 'Options' (it's on top of a thread, in the same line as the title and next to Rating) and then 'switch to standard'. It should fix the problem.
