I don't really listen to hip hop or rap very much, so Beastie Boys, Eminem, and Outkast are really the only ones I sort of like.

^ Well, everyone has their own opinions.
The radio stations here only really play hip hop and rap. And it's not even good hop hop or rap, which really sucks.

and 'two thieves' by the compulsive gamblers.

Nah it is more like you can respect somone or somthing and you are kinda sorry that you don't see why other people think it is so great. I'm not really sorry.....i supose i am sorry that those people don't make a different type of music i might like it then. I mean there are some geniuses who can create lyrics on the spot (i don't mean the steritypical rap i mean somthing which is more relevant) so i think if they wrote a tune and sung there lyrics they might be good. (and don't tell me thats imposible or too hard, Jim Morrison could improvise lyrics.)

yeah i heard that too. they say the arctic monkeys, jamie t, the streets etc are trip-hop too.
i find bands who are categorised in trip-hop are ones who sing in their local accent and sing about life in where they live and whatnot.

I know that. I feel like this about Raggae most of the time. Although I do like some tracks sometimes. But normally it makes me really agressive.
Most bands I like are already mentioned like N.E.R.D. and The Roots and the Wu-tang clan. But I also like like some German Hip Hop. And sometimes french.
