that is completly unfair. both craig nicholls and the late kurt cobain are rape worthy. im not even voting on this one.. totally against my relegion.
and i think the vines sound like themselves. ive never been able to compare them to anyone. even though i love all three bands, vines, beatles, and nirvana.

I think their music is different than nirvana and the beatles, but if i had to choose one, i'd choose the beatles, because they also incorporated pop-like music in their albums, nirvana was really good, but kept to pretty much one genre, anyways, who is brad, and craig totally wins this one!

well you know like I love the first two cds from nirvana bu after that it just went down hill. sure they had a couple songs on it but lots of the songs were just random shit. I mean like there was just no point in the music. you could tell they were starting to lose it. yes kurt was great and a good song writer but some people just go overboard.
plus its sad to see that kurt has gone in the way of being a commercial icon(which is what he always hated) He sells everything thing from t shirts, to boobleheads, to new box sets with unreleased materiel(oh yeah that box set when the lights go out or whatever is terriabl NOT WORTH THE MONEY). its sad to see all these 13-18 year old girls who say OMG KURTS LIKE MY HERO, but in reality they were like 3 when nirvana was huge. I like kurt don't get me wrong I just wish people consintrated more on the music, cause thats what he would of wanted

are you gulity of being as tragically hip as probably everyone else on this board? Nirvana was looked up too. Espically, during their time when there was nothing more then an endless stream of copy cat hair metal bands. They were fresh and kids connected to the angst and pain in the songs instead of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. I suppose that's why they were thrown into the emo genre at times. Like my sister, who's 14 told me she liked emo music. I laughed and was like okay, tell me some bands you like. And she lists Nirvana with taking back sunday and as i lay dying. Anyways, Kurt could still be their icon. Do you listen to the bealtes, eagles, pink floyd...(anything older)? if you do, you weren't around during their time. You don't have to be alive during a period of time when an artist is at their peak of success. I feel like i'm giving an infomercial. It's hard to organize all my thoughts into a paragraph that flows, you know? yo. If you like Nirvana, you'll probably like THE VASELINES. I love them and kurt was highly influenced by them. Uhm, I didn't answer the question of this board, and I think The vines are more like Nirvana. If you're looking at their later stuff, because their early stuff has way too heavy of a bass.

The funny thing about that is that if I didn't know here he was from and I heard his voice and saw him and such, I would have had no idea where he was from. His accent really doesn't sound australian (or that much like any other accent I'm familiar with) and I never realized how much that is true until I got here

...plus, he's pale as a ghoast

...well I'm not saying that australians are all tan cause that's entirely untrue, but nothing about him would immediately make me think he's australian

Yeah, Craig doesn't have a very typical accent. Sometimes I think it sounds different every time I hear it.

I think Craig does have a bit of an aussie accent mixed with a little British. Im born and raised in Australia and people think i have a weird accent

Mostly people think im English or Polish for some reason, but really wat is a typical aussie meant to look and sound like? everyones different, hes also got such a soft voice when he speaks but when he says some words you can hear his aussieness. well i can anyways

i agree that the vines cant be compared to anybody, they have completly thier own sound and style, i mean i guess some of thier songs may sound a bit beatlish or grungy but its in the style of the vines not the beatles or nirvana. i really cant think of any band that has the vines style. thats why i truly think that the vines are one of the most under rated bands, i mean i dont know about where you guys live but in seattle and olympia where i live people just dont give them anymore credit that just being a stupid kid band, it just pisses me off so badly... and as far as "the hottest poll", lol big suprise who won!

To make the big time you really need to have your own style, but mostly these styles are blends of other things. Stuff like Ride, Get Free etc. are more like nirvana.... Stuff like Autum Shade, homesick etc. are more like the beatles.

Well, let's look at it this way - my dad thought "Candy Daze" was a Beatles song and thought "1969" was a Pink Floyd song. I can't really say much about that seeing that I don't listen to those two bands very much, but I don't think The Vines sound all that much like Nirvana. They might have been inspired by Nirvana, but to me they don't sound like them.

I didn't finish the poll because even though they sound like Nirvana they have there own qualities that stick out. But I do think that some songs sound like Nirvana and some like the beatles. If I was ever compared to Nirvana I would be honored. Nirvana changed the face of music. Think about that.
