The Vines set for UK return

The band set to play first shows in two years
The Vines are to make their long awaited live return to the UK with their first shows in two years.

The Aussie rockers, who haven't performed on British shores since singer Craig Nicholls was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in 2004, have been confirmed for the NME/Radio 1 stage at the Carling Weekend Reading and Leeds Festivals on August 25-26 - the band's first appearance at the three day event since 2002.

Prior to that, the band will be appearing for a warm up date at Nottingham's Rescue Rooms on August 24 before they wrap up their whirlwind jaunt at the London Forum on August 29.

As previously reported, the band recently made their first festival appearance in 18 months at Byron Bay's Splendour On The Grass last Saturday (July 22) after making their live return at Sydney's Annandale Hotel last week.

The Vines will play:

Nottingham Rescue Rooms (August 24)
Carling Weekend: Reading Festival (25)
Saturday August 26th Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival (26)
London Forum (29)

OMG!! YES!!! I get to see them twice in 3 days!

It's so weird, one of best my friend came back from a holiday in Turkey yesterday and she brought back these anklets with turkish good luck eyes on to give to our group of 4 best friends so we could all wear them and be blessed with good luck. And on that same day she won £23 on this playing card bingo thing at the pub and i find out The Vines are playing a festival already have tickets for and a venue down the road from my friend!! I'm never taking this thing off!!!

Got my tickets for the Rescue Rooms at 1.00pm exactly..hope it's tickets 1 & 2 direct from the box office telephone line. Well I live in Nottingham so life's easier! See some of you guys there, any time from about 11am on the day! If you need directions let me know, although don't ask me too much about driving our one way system is shit!

got my tickets for nottingham earlier this afternoon and i can't wait. It will be good to see how they have progressed live because ive been ofrtunate enough to see them touring all three of their albums so it should be a great occasion. This time i actually hope to meet Craig too because last time i met Ryan, Hamish and Patrick but Craigh wouldn't come off the bus until he had had his KFC meal delivered and eaten it and by the tme he got it the doors opened so i had to leave it to get a good space in the crowd although i managed to get the water bottle he threw out into the crowd which kinda made up for it.
I have looked at the setlists they have done in recent weeks and one thing is bumming me out and that is the fact that they aren't playing a couple of my favourite songs; Homesick and Mary Jane oh and Autumn Shade one and two.

If i was you, i would have bought him his KFC

seems to me they're trying to play their more energetic songs to keep the energy level of the crowd up. i love, love, LOVE their ballads, but there are only so many you can sprinkle throughout a set and the audience gets restless. not me, mind you, because i could deal with a whole set of nothing but vines ballads and trippy numbers and be in heaven, but that isn't what your typical 'rock crowd' expects. and in all truthfulness, as much as i despise moshing, there's something about a crowd moshing/pogoing/going wild that seems to bring out the best in a band - it's like they feed off that energy.

THIS IS GREAT! Even though I live in the U.S, after U.K, the next stop is bound to be the United States.

god i wish i could be i the UK for the shows, maybe they'll come to New York!

yeah i doubt that they wouldnt come to the US if everything went smoothly in the UK. Hopefully some DC/New York shows.

ive tried to c if i could go back earlier and go straight to london instead of paris, and then go back to paris after the show or sthing... and only the travel would cost me about 150 €
