i hate how NME blows everything out of proportion and makes it seem like a story for the tabloids...so everything that went on with the Libertines was just turned into a soap opera with NME and it irritated me, and not all of their information is valid

Yes, that's what you want in a music magazine isn't it? Forget valid opinions, well-researched and informative articles, let's have some sarcasm! Do you even like music?
On the rare occasions when I might purchase the NME (just before a long train ride or whatever) I swear I feel so embarassed to do so. Pornography would give me an easier time. And probably have better articles of music too.

NME really piss me off, when a band they feature gets bigger they drop them. they did it with lostprophets when they got into the states. and my dad said that back when u2 werent as big NME featured them all the time and then they started to sell more records and they dropped them. and they act like theyre the best mag in this fuckin world...when actually theyre pure shite!
Asparagus Sin Drum
Dec 22 2004, 07:08 PM
Yes, they did it with The Strokes too. Although the 2nd album might have been instrumental in this somwhat.
They just generally seem more obsessed with 'issues' and 'trends' than the music itself which is unfortunate. And the journalists really cannot write.

Dec 22 2004, 07:14 PM
I suppose the dropping bands when they get big thing is ok if the purpose of the NME is just to make bands big, and so once they do well they concentrate on the less-established bands.
I'm not sure if this is the agenda of the magazine though.
Eitherway, it's still poorly-written and a disgrace to the bands they feature.

Naaaahhh... These are not cool, but look: There are good bands like the Clash or the Smiths, these are way better. Well, I can't say that I like the Babyshambles because I don't really know them, but of course I like the Libertines. *sobs* But Pete has gone. How tragic. *sigh* Maybe some time there will be two singers again, Carlos and Peter.

I love NME, reading it at Borders (Melbourne) is my weekly fix.
Why? Pictures of pretty boys of course. But the captions/reviews are quite entertaining. The interviews are often irrelevant to the music (See Franz Ferdinand: Where would you take Michael on a date?) but damn hilarious.
Besides, it's basically the only magazine to cover Libertine/Babyshamble events on a timely basis.
I buy it 2 times a year, when it comes with a free CD/bonus issue or something.
