I especially hated that I somehow liked 'Burn Burn'. I saw it way too often on tv. And Last Train Home was so cringeworthy.

No it wasn't rolleyes.gif
Ah well, I'm not going to try to get you into them, it's your problem if you just won't listen to good music tongue.gif

Hey, GLC are fun. Somehow I knew you don't approve of them. laugh.gif I only own their first album though...

Well, I can only remember thinking it was reaaaally cheesy. But I mean, that's why I hated Keane, too, and now I listen to them.

So I've noticed...

Ah well, at least you like two of what I call my Holy Trinity, and that's something biggrin.gif
Thomhatesmusic
Okay, let's check my favourite bands.

Radiohead - checked
Idlewild - checked
Interpol - ?
Coldplay - you said you liked them, right? huh.gif
Libertines - sad.gif
Oasis - ...
Zoé - you don't know them, do you?
Malajube - ditto...
Snow Patrol - again, you said they were alright?
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - No idea
Blur - "
The Smiths - "
The Rakes - "

Er, well, at least we both used to be big Vines fans, too. tongue.gif
Rusty
Hmm, lemme see...

Radiohead - checked
Idlewild - checked
Interpol - rather like them
Coldplay - I like them VERY much
Libertines - no comment mellow.gif
Oasis - I don't mind their music, I even like some songs
Zoé - don't know them
Malajube - as above
Snow Patrol - I don't mind them
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - rather like them
Blur - don't mind them
The Smiths - mellow.gif
The Rakes - don't know them very well, so I'm in no position to judge tongue.gif

I wonder what you'd make of my list unsure.gif

Radiohead
Muse
Idlewild
Incubus
Clannad
Jeff Buckley
Audioslave
Lacuna Coil
Linkin Park ( tongue.gif )
Coldplay
(early) Pearl Jam
Alice in Chains
The Music
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Lostprophets
Dead Can Dance
The Cranberries
Enya
Tangerine Dream
Green Day
Alanis Morisette
Eminem

AND the jazz people:
Pat Metheny
Terje Rypdal
Al di Meola
John Coltrane

I've just looked at that incongruous collection and my teeth are beginning to hurt laugh.gif

But The Libertines are great. sad.gif I mean were. *cough*
Zoé are Mexican and sing in Spanish mostly, and Malajube are from Canada and sing all in French. If then you'd like Zoé better, I think.

Your teeth? I'm rather slow today.

I was going to say something about the Smiths being influential on all three of your top bands and then I already had Muse's cover of Please Please let me get what I want in my head. And then the Jeff Buckley cover of Bigmouth strikes again.

Radiohead - Need I say anything?
Muse - Oh well, I USED to like OriginoS and Supermassive Black Hole was catchy
Idlewild - tongue.gif
Incubus - I only own A crow left of the murder, but it's nice enough, and 11am is beautiful. Each time they play here I consider going for, like, a second
Clannad - Don't know
Jeff Buckley - I used to love him so freaking much but I havent listened to him very much in ages, sometimes his voice acrobatics are a bit, over the top, I guess. But still Sketches would have been such a perfect album!
Audioslave - I don't know them very well. I cant even think of a song right now. I think I found them ok.
Lacuna Coil - As far as I remember I know one song and didnt like it, but might be not so true after all.
Linkin Park ( tongue.gif ) - Oh well, I did listen to them when I was 13 and even then I kept bitching about how bad they were and only listened in secret laugh.gif
Coldplay - wub.gif
(early) Pearl Jam - I really didnt want to listen to them for so long because everyone said Jason Wade stole his way of singing from him. Ten is rather good. I only own Riot Act though, because it was 1 euro, I hardly listen to it
Alice in Chains - Dont know them well
The Music - Cant one album and I cant listen trough it. laugh.gif I like the You Might As Well Try To Fuck Me EP though...
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - They're not bad.
Lostprophets - we had that laugh.gif
Dead Can Dance - Don't know them too well
The Cranberries - I used to think they were the same thing as Alanis Morisette, and last week I realized she sounds like Shakira. Eh, well, Cranberries always remind me of my childhood, but I dont listen to them
Enya - I loved what she did for Lord of the rings
Tangerine Dream - Dont really know them
Green Day - No. pinch.gif (Well, I can STAND them)
Alanis Morisette - When I think of her, I always think of Street Spirit laugh.gif Uh, not a fan but mostly I dont mind.
Eminem - He isnt bad. If I'm in the right mood.

I only know John Coltrane of the rest and like him.

Actually I also got some German favourites but I was rather sure you wouldnt know them. tongue.gif
What do you think about Lifehouse and kings of leon though? unsure.gif

Oh God, and Helpshecantswim! wub.gif And Nirvana!
Er, I guess you dont like the Hives too much...

Oh, I'm sure you'd love Make Yourself! Check it out, it's my fave Incubus album, and considered to be their best anyway

QUOTE(Thomhatesmusic @ May 11 2007, 08:34 PM) *

Clannad - Don't know

They come from Ireland, and originally they played traditional Irish music, but over the years they evolved into a sort of pop folk band, although the word "pop" is doing them an injustice, as their music can be very trippy and...oh... it's difficult really to describe...
they are simply brilliant, that's all I can say

QUOTE(Thomhatesmusic @ May 11 2007, 08:34 PM) *

Really? I like Vision Valley.

The Bends is also overrated. And sometimes almost KID A is, not in the sense of how good it is but in the sense of what a radical change they made and influencial crap.
I sometimes really dislike that I'm into so much mainstream music. Then again it shouldn't really bother me.

Yorke was asked what single moment he would most like to be remembered for.

His response was 'How To Disappear Completely' from 2000's 'Kid A' album. Explaining why, he simply said, "because it's the most beautiful thing we ever did, I think".

This choice is not that of his fans. NME.COM users voted 'Just' from 'The Bends' as their best-ever Radiohead track in August this year.

I was so fucking bored yesterday so I was actually happy when Tanja called. We were bored together then. Then my brother came over and blabbed for quite some time, but i like when he does it, Then we watched Dancer in the Dark, that Björk movie. It was good.
Er, yes. And now I'm watching/listening to the Coldplay DVD. I love that band. wub.gif

Yorke was asked what single moment he would most like to be remembered for.

His response was 'How To Disappear Completely' from 2000's 'Kid A' album. Explaining why, he simply said, "because it's the most beautiful thing we ever did, I think".

Oh, I ADORE that song
and I love the lyric... especially that Liffey reference happy.gif

Hey, THOM studied fine art! blink.gif

Shame he's never tried having a go at designing something...

...like a RH album cover, for example tongue.gif

I bet it would have been awesome
Thomhatesmusic
Eh, but he does the covers for Radiohead. Togethers with Stanley, they make all the Radiohead art crap.
Rusty
"crap"? mellow.gif
I hope this is just a figure of speech rolleyes.gif

anyway, I'd like him to design something from start to finish and take the full credit for it

something like Roddy and the cover of Hope Is Important happy.gif
