Isn't it just a cable that goes from your stereo to your computer? Then you use Soundforge or some program like that to convert it?

Uh, I'm not sure but I don't think it's too complicated. I'll ask later.

Mine just arrived today happy.gif

i got my copies of 'anysound' last thursday yahoo.gif only my record player isn't working crying.gif (which i kinda sorta knew from the last time i tried to use it, only i was hoping it had miraculously fixed itself in the meantime rolleyes.gif ). i'm either going to have to borrow my niece's fisher price record player to listen to those vinyl b-sides, or go visit one of my two friends who still have record players so i can hear them.

that said, i wrote mgmt and emi suggesting they might want to make these b-sides available thru iTunes since a) not everyone has a record player or access to one, b ) completists are going to buy the limited edition vinyl copies anyway, and c) why not allow for more sales by making these iTunes exclusives, especially since more and more music listeners want mp3s of their songs anyway? i'll let you know what either of them says...if anything.

emi did say that the single will be released in oz in august, instead of mid-july as originally intended, but there are still no plans for a u.s. release. no surprise there. rolleyes.gif

^ Good idea! I'd love to have copies of those songs on my computer. I've had the Anysound vinyls for about a week or so now and I'll finally get to listen to them tonight when I go back to my parents place for a couple of weeks. I think I'm gonna make a tape recording of them so I can listen to them when I come back to Newcastle cool.gif .

that's what i'm hoping to do at my friend's place - get him to make a cassette recording and at least i'll have that to listen to. i'm most anxious to hear the 'going gone' demo. icon12.gif

but more bands should be taking advantage of releasing non-album tracks on iTunes! for example, i noticed liz phair did an exclusive acoustic performance for iTunes that you can view as a podcast for free and/or buy the songs at .99 a pop. smart.

They sound awesome and the cover art is great! yahoo.gif

hey, jess - or anyone who has listened to them - can you describe how the 'going gone' demo sounds different from the album version?
LockedInAFreezer
Well, to me, the demo sounded very Beatle-esque. The guitar was a bit quieter it seemed and the vocals, which were really amazing, came through more. It was just a lot mellower and Craig sang it kind of softly, which made it sound kind of dreamy, if that makes any sense at all. I'm bad at describing things.

But, umm... I liked the drums in the demo more. They sounded more bongo-ish somehow, but yeah. laugh.gif I dunno. Oh, and this version was lacking the strings, but for some reason, maybe it was Craig's vocals, I really didn't miss them at all. I really love this version...maybe better than the VV version. wub.gif ph34r.gif

August is like way too late. I saw the video on Rage last night.
