OK here's our story
We are two guitarist/songwriters (18 & 22 male) from Melbourne who are setting up a band to take as far as we possibly can. Not because we want to make shit loads of $$$ or anything, but because music is our passion & lets face it who wants work all week for the rest of your life when you could have toured, seen the the world etc....
We are very driven & know what needs to happen if we have a chance at doing this for a living. I have played in bands that have had a record deal, toured, supported international bands, Triple J airplay etc…
We have great contacts in the industry & have worked in the music industry. THIS IS NOT A HOBBY BAND. Only looking for people are motivated and really passionate about music that they are prepared to make personal sacrifices so the band can tour, record, write etc...
Music we like – Nirvana, …Trail of Dead, QOTSA, At the Drive In, Mars Volta, Muse, the Vines, the Beatles, Melvin's, the Sex Pistols, Refused, Led Zep, the Velvet Underground, the Bronx, Faith No More, the Dandy Warhol's, the Pixies, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Love like Electrocution, etc…
What we need in a vocalist - first of all you need to be able to create great melodies, & Lyrics. Catchy but also smart. Basically think Courtney Talylor, ( dandy warhols ) Kurt Cobain. John Leenon with a touch of Lou Reed, Josh Homme, & Peter Hayes ( BRMC ). That's the sort of sound we're going for.
Basically music has to be your passion, & you need to sing like you mean it. We need someone who sings performs with conviction. You need to be a rockstar & have the confidence & Charisma to capivate people.
You need to have that something that makes people believe what you are saying.
Looking for people around our age so 18 - 23, male preferred because it suits our music better. ( sorry ladies )
Guitar or piano skills also a bonus, but not needed.
MP3's or links would be great, not worried about recording quality at all just wouldn't mind hearing your voice on record.
Drop us an email at aaron.pte@bigpond.com.au if you're up for the challenge. Cheers

ROFL. I can see it now. =P
I should get a techno band together and use Microsoft Sam's voice.

It's been a while since I've been on this forum. We have some interest from well known management & record companies who are keen to hear the band complete. Unfortunately we still need our crazy frontman.
Everyone in the band has played in bands since they were 12 & have toured, supported international acts, & had distribution deals with Sony/BMG & Shock records.
This is a great opportunity if you want to make music your life & full time job. So email me at aaron.pte@bigpond.com.au & we'll take it from there.
Cheers Aaron

yeah, i think you should think about a girl, or a guy. Having a singer who's voice is different to what you are used to could advance your style.
heres a suggesstion, put your add in "Mixdown" (australia's National music newspaper), i've been reading it for a while, lots of bands do that.
Just email your classifyeds to: mixclassifeds@beat.com.au, I reakon you'd be more likely to find an interested person (male if you must) in melborne that way. It's free and you can even advertise for gigs there.
Edit: do you have a link to any of your songs, or a myspace, or a website, this would also help.
