anyone else have/had that problem?
This is the second cd in as many cds that i buy that have the same protection. The new Vines album and the new Placebo album called Meds. I actually purchased the album and im gonna have to resort to stealing it anyways! how lame is that! Exactly like the Placebo album i put it in my computer and it asks me to agree to this license. i click no and close the program..and like other cds i just open my iTunes and rip them to my iPod but my iTunes sees the cd as a freakin BLANK CD! so i can't rip it. i go back to the lil program the cd gave me and agree to the license, then i see i can only burn it/play it/or rip it in WMA. who the hell wants WMA? i sure as hell do not..its a bitch to convert in iTunes. So basically im gonna have to do like i did with my Placebo cd..and go steal it on the net while i actually freaking PURCHASED the album! this is really infuriating. can't even put an album i BOUGHT on my mp3 player. EMI fucking sucks the bag!
and if anyone knows how to bypass that protection please do tell

I feel your pain. I couldn't possibly get VV on my computer. This little player thing came up and played it (usually, cause it confused the hell out of my computer and the CD drive got all spastic

). Yeah, it was really annoying. If it were a band I wasn't this crazy about, I would be totally pissed, but with the vines, I'm willing to buy it again or whatever

I have no problem putting them on my mp3 player.
I dunno why you're having a problem. Maybe cause you have an ipod?

Naw, I popped VV right into iTunes without a problem. I'm not sure what's wrong with everybody else's. Sorry I can't help.

Nope it isn't that, cause I tried to rip it onto itunes. Ali had no problems. I actually have 2 copies of the CD, the limited edition and the regular one. One of them actually isn't even recognized by my computer at all so it doesn't even play on that dodgy little player. It's not like my CD drive is messed up though, I haven't had problems with any other CDs

i hate the copy protection thingie too!

if you own a cd, you should be able to rip it and load it wherever you want it - why punish everyone for the pirates?
if you own the cd, don't feel bad about using *cough* other means to get the songs to your ipod or computer.

Yeah, I was using my dad's laptop and it played the CD one time through...but then I took it out to drive somewhere and listen...and when I came back it wouldn't play on that computer anymore. I had to get my laptop out...but I haven't tried to rip it to itunes...mostly cuz I don't have an ipod or any other mp3 player...

I didn't have a problem putting the album on my Play-Yan Micro. I ripped it using the standard Windows Media Player.

Has anyone ever heard of the software 'Nero'?

I didn't have any difficulty ripping the first twelve songs with Musicmatch, but 'Spaceship' wouldn't work for some reason.
This isn't really related, but when I put my CD in my stereo, the monitor displays it as being 71:26 long and having fifteen tracks. After 'Spaceship', it plays a fourteenth track which is just thirty-some minutes of silence. It doesn't do this on my computer or my discman, just my stereo. Has this happened to anyone else? It isn't really a problem, it's just a bit odd.

You mean on that little player thingy that comes up? One of my copies works with that and the other doesn't

. I can't rip either of them even though I have the newest itunes, windows media, etc. I haven't had a problem with anything else

When i first posted yesterday, i was at work and just bought it, so it was pretty much just speculation. But when i got home last night it was confirmed that my stupid purchased cd wouldnt work. first of all i don't know why but when i insert the cd, my iTunes detects it as a blank cd, thats prolly the main problem. So i said 'Okay, screw it i'm gonna rip them from the cd program into .WMA' Bad idea..sure it worked and i had the whole album ripped on my computer, but when i imported them into iTunes, low and behold iTunes tells me he can't convert them into mp3s because they are COPYRIGHTED material! and that if i do have the original purchased cd(which i fucking do!) i can just insert it in and rip them from there....HELLO!! you told me it's a freakin blank cd mofo! then i managed to drop kick my computer and play frisbee with Vision Valley....okay maybe not..but i was thinking about it!! So again, two cds in a month i buy and then have to resort to steal. Thank you music industry, now i REALLY wanna continue buying albums...

It's such a pain in the ass when that happens

. I didn't have too many problems putting VV onto my computer. At first it didn't upload onto Sonic Stage because it was copyrighted, so I tried itunes and had no probs

. It went across as m4a files, I converted them to mp3s and they went easily across to Sonic Stage.
Still, I really don't get why record companies make their CDs so hard to upload onto a computer when all they're doing is forcing people to illegally download music so they can play it on their mp3 players. I'm sure there are people out there who don't even bother with CDs anymore - just go straight to programs like Limewire. It really is stupid, there's a point where the amount of protection they put on CDs becomes counter productive

.

I don't think the englsh version of Vision Valley has any copy protection, it doesn't mention it on the CD case or anything, and even though BRMC'S album Take Them On, On Your Own has some kind of copy protection that also worked fine in my iTunes, so i dunno what everyones problem is.

I haven't tried to rip it but that when VV gets dodgy EMI CD player thing sometimes makes this computer go a little crazy...

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
But like Jen said, I think if you've actually bought the album, you shouldn't feel bad about 'stealing' it off the net. Blessings from a mod!

Rip it in WMA or CDA or whatever format have you to a file in your computer.
Open up iTunes and add these files to your library.
It should automatically ask you to convert them to mp3.

I know, especially when in this day and age people use mp3 players much more often than portable CD players. And what's the point if you can't even get it on your mp3 player? Record companies should realize this. And it's odd how it works for some people and not for others. I mean, I don't think my computer is messed up and my itunes and all those programs I tried are up to date. Oh well, whatever

.
By the way, this is the only CD I've ever had problems with (besides the WD single

with the same copy protection).

I think mine just doesn't have the protection on it
it says nothing about it being copy protected and it doesnt have the little symbol on it that CD's with that protection usually have on them

Hey,
you could just install this patch. It allows you to rip it to .mp3. I faced the same problem.
