I just have a stupid Squier amp that came with my Strat.....

but a friend of mine has a tube amp (which goes up to 11 tongue.gif), it gets really loud, and it has built-in reverb and stuff.....my tele sounds great on it cool.gif

they both sound great.....I use my strat for clean guitar picking, and my strat for more distortion....they both sound heavenly

Go see that movie, it's about a fictional rock band in the 80s....well, they're real people, and the concerts they play are real, but they are not a real band.....

it's a mockumentary, it looks real, but it's not biggrin.gif
Grind n' thrash
Well, on this subject, I say this.

As far as Fender goes, I find them highly overrated in general. They hve a nice comfortable feel to them and the low action seems promising. But over all I find their tone weak, and I find them inflexible. I mean, If all you play is blues, pop, punk, and classic rock, they would be great for you. Bottom line, so far as heavy, modern music goes, Fender can't hang. I enjoy their warm tones to some extint, but their basically a one trick pony as far as I'm concerned. I do rather enjoy their basses, esspecially the American Vintage '62 Jazz Bass.

I do have a strong notion for Ibanez though. I find them very musically flexible. You can get some soft, warm Strat-oriented tones out of them, and also crank out some cutting distortion for metalcore/death metal styles of music. The action on them is low, probably lower than Fender. I also enjoy their flat Wizard necks, which is more of a personal preference. These things scream speed. Great for shredding and sweeping. I also enjoy the Ibanez locking tremelos, another thing that you'll almost never find on a Fender. I'm a fan of screams and dive bombs. And, staying in tune for that long has benifits. Alot of people are dissauded by them because of bad reviews. But the grand majority are from partially new players that have no fucking clue how to work a locking trem. Overall, Ibanez gives you tons of tone possiblities and definitely give you more bang for your buck. I woul recommend on of the RG series. You can get a decient one with for around 400 bucks with an Edge III locking trem, Wizard II neck, and a H-S-H pickup setup. If you can afford one, I would highly recommend the RG Prestiges. They run around $1,000-$1,300 but are worth every dime.

One side note, I would also like to state that the stock Ibanez pickups ae prety decient, but I would recommend Seymour Duncans or DiMarzio's ( NOT EMG, unless all you play is deathcore/death metal/grindcore, etc).

Overall, if you want to expand yourself musically with a wide array of tonal possiblities for a cheap price, buy an Ibanez. For if your an avid blues fan, believe that The Who is the greatest band that ever existed, or are morbidly obsessed with pop-punk facts like Fall Out Boy, Fender is your ticket. (BUY AN IBANEZ =D)

[b]I too am trying to decide on an electric guitar. I am a beginner with electrics, I have owned a Gibson, Alvarez, and a Yamaha standard since 1963 (yes I'm an Old Fart). I have never learned anything except standard chords and am about to retire, I hope, and want to now purchase an electric since I will have time on my hands and may actually learn how to play. My question to you fine folks is do you recommend a Fender or Ibanez? My son and nephew both have Ibanez's and love them but their taste in music is a bit different than mine. I am mainly country and blues, and zydeco. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim
