correction: Harry Whittington wasn't just shot in the face....

He was sprayed by the shotgun's pellets from mid-torso to his face.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I really don't find this whole thing funny at all. What if the guy who was shot dies? I dunno, maybe I have no sense of humour .
I hope this whole thing puts those men off hunting. I think shooting animals for fun is just plain cruel. I don't understand how some people can get their jollies from killing living creatures. It makes me sick.

the men in my family hunt. not for sport, we actually eat the meat they kill. i don't like to be around when they come in from a hunt, but i do eat the deer or quail later after it's been cleaned and prepared at the meat packing plant.

hunting accidents happen every year, and usually warrent a three paragraph story on the fourth or fifth page of the paper - front if the person is killed. when you're the vice president, though, it becomes a national incident shaking the capitol rafters.
