alright so obviously you guys have noticed that we're testing out the new skin here

I need you guys to comment in here and let me know what you love about it and what you hate about it
and if you can post a picture of what it looks like to you that would help me alot to see how much I can cut off of the background to make it a smaller image

don't mention board functions that aren't working, like the QUOTE button, because it has nothing to do with the skin
all the skin is, is the LOOK of the forum (colors, background, font, images etc.)

I've already taken care of finding a new light green to take place of the lighter one we have now so you don't have to mention that either

and the thick black boxes around the page numbers are being looked into as well

no changes can be made until Monday, at the earliest

and don't just say "its too busy"
give a bit more details

yeah
if you like everything mention that too so I can see what needs to be changed the most

oh and heres a list of things that just didn't transfer when the new skin was uploaded that you don't need to mention:
lines separating posts, topics and sections
a bar and border where the newtopic and newpoll buttons are
those buttons being right justified
new PM notices being readible
every other post being a slightly different background color

oh so there's nothing to complain about

the new skin, not including those negative points, is incredibly wonderful, really.

I'd like to see the actual "forum" part of it slightly wider. It seems like just a little strip down the middle, and I think it could go a little wider and still not interfere with the graphics at the edges. Actually you could go further towards the right since that's just the stripes.

As for the quote button, did that ever work? I always had to use the reply button...

And yes, a little wider would be nice. At least on the stripey side, so it doesnt take away from ryan and his headphones.

I just noticed - the headphones-person having the logo on their face is SCARY.

Yeah, i thought it was a little scary too. Having no face is creepy.
Supposedly that was Craig's idea, and that was what the artist came up with.
I looks like it's Ryan, because of the striped shirt, tho one can't be all too sure.

yeah, you can't place blame for the scary vinehead dude on lizzy - that was graphic artist, biddy maroney, and the band's creation.

but i've grown rather attached to him.

The gut with the telephone cords coming out of his ear is way creepier.

I don't recall the quote button ever working so why not remove it entirely? And yes the forum should be much wider (practically as wide as the page). Sorry if the larger headphone graphic and stripes would be covered but you already have those graphics in the header.

And not to insult but perhaps it would be nice if members had a choice and the blue forum left in the options? Other forums have choice of skins in the preference section.

The light green is still too bright (actually it looks the same color and I cleared my cache just in case). Why not a very pale muted green?

Also the forums and thread should be separated with a line because they all look jumbled together now. And where it says "The Vines Message Board > Off Topic > Forum Business," can that be in a white or colored box because it gets hidden in the design and sometimes I can't see it well.

I like him too. Scary or not. I also like the spaghetti phone faced dude. They're both creepy.
Craig is awesome! Where does he think of these ideas?
I hope biddy did it exactly like craig wanted and that he was pleased..

Oh almost forgot to mention two more things (so sorry for a lengthy list but I'm just trying to help). Make sure the forum looks uniform on all browsers (AOL, Mozilla, Explorer, etc). Also make sure the graphics on the page are not too large in file size causing slower downloads and freezing screens. I realize the PC freezing is not happening to all but if it happened to me that means it can happen to someone else so it should be looked into just in case. The blue forum never froze on me.

Okay that's it. Hope it all gets sorted. Looking forward to the new smilies.

I can make the middle part wider

I'm not going to make it as wide as the screen cause it would look pretty stupid with the background then

I can get rid of the green entry font as well
I have the mysteriously disappearing hover fonts fixed (so links don't disappear when you hover over them)

i agree. other forums aren't as wide as the screen - that's just stupid - and the side art ads character.

I don't think you have to go all the way to the right Lizzy - the stripey bit does add character, and you could widen the forum toward the right by about another half-inch or so and still have it bordered by the stripes.

a half inch to the right should just about do it. and i'm with you, tinks, the supposed 'bright green' isn't like that on my computer. carolyn described it as a 'sea green' and that's how it looks on mine - very calming - and that's using aol and explorer as browsers.

well if it IS the very bright green for you, then yeah you might be the only one who likes it
its rich light green for me
nothing at all strenous on the eyes

but some people say it come out looking like a bright lime green

its just confusing
so I'm changing it


and I'll see what I can do about the justification of the middle

I'm using Mozilla Firefox and everything works fine (except the quote button, but that never worked for me anyway, not on my home PC or on my Mac at work).

To be honest after the initial shock of it all the whole thing has kind of grown on me. Nice work Lizzy.

Why is that stupid? DTI's is practically the entire screen (as was the old .com blue forum skin) and looks nice and neat and all post look uniform.

i meant it would look stupid to cover up the new side graphics and also, unnecessary, given you can read the posts fine as it is now. half the time, i don't even maximize the page anyway, and it's never a problem.

I think it's brilliant . Lizzy, I know I've already told you this several times about this skin, but you're a genius .

And I'm with Jen on the width of the forum, I love being able to see the little headphones dude where ever I go and I haven't had any problems with the slightly skinnier forum. I think it's great as is .

yep, it's back to black and the quote button is working again too.

there are borders between the posts too. there's still no lines between threads within forums, but the posts is a help. i like the alternating colors between posts too.
