Heya!!

Although I love the vines since a while now, Im quite new here so I wanted to tell u im so happy to b here! All of u are so nice really !

Anyway, I wanted to ask a new post cause i had sthing to ask but i wasnt sure bout where to post it so here it is...

I went to the 2 biggest cd shops in town there is yesterday and as usual I passed like 10 minutes dying to find a vines album for theyre only a few and really difficult to find!(1 winning days in one, and 2 Highly evolved + 2 winning days in the other one). I am living in France actually and most of the times when I mention the vines, people havent heard of them or only heard their names or ride once... But thats all.

I was only wondering how it was in the other countries, especially in Australia for they should be quite known over there...

Anyway, Im wondering how it will go for them in the future... Especially after Vision Valley that, after listening to DLTTR and Gross out, Im sure will be a huge album and should make noise...

To tell you the truth, The Vines aren't that popular in America either, actually...

Everytime, somebody asks me who my favourite band is, I tell them, and they just look at me like, What the hell.

Oh well. Maybe it's a good thing. It means that the fans they have are serious, and ain't doin' it just for the style.

Yeah thats exactly the same for me but actually i really dont mind, on the contrary, I prefer to b so instead of saying like "nirvana" or any other band like this... But also it seems like each vines fan is a great fan like u said

Only a handful of people actually know them, two handfuls know who they are.. the rest are stupid..

No one really knows who they are around here. They probably figure that i like some stupid band thats like fallout boy but not popular.

in the south where i am, few recognize the band name and some may remember 'get free.' but then it's that way for most 'indie' bands in my part of the world - it's all about the hip hop and the country here.



you never can tell. i want it to sell well enough that they can keep making music and pay the bills - i suspect that's good enough for them as well, since craig certainly doesn't want to be a 'rock star.'

cherry, it's great to see you posting here and it's always good to see fans from all over professing their love for the band.

argentina doesn't know the vines.. anyways it's cooler that way, i wouldn't be a vines fan if all the argentinians where like "omg yeahh! i love the vines and their best song is GET FREE"

Yeah, the only people I know that like the Vines have either been brainwashed or forced.

The rest are ignorant of really awesome music and think I'm insane when I go off on Vines-related topics.

Sometimes, when people see me wearing a Vines shirt they'll be like "What's a Vine?" That can get rather irritating.

I recently schooled a hardcore gangsta in one of my classes about the magical wonder of the Vines. It was pretty amusing. He totally didn't get it, but was nice enough to smile and nod his head occasionally to show he was listening to my neverending praise and promoting. Somehow I don't think I convinced him to the point where he's gonna rush out and by a CD....just a hunch though.

Everyday i go up to people with the New Album countdown, I told them if they go buy the new cd i'll shut up

wecan make a thread per country to know how many people sings up there.- that way we'll find out and we'll know.. well you know..
or a poll with all the countrys of the world to vote and find out what country haves got more vines fans.

well i live in argentina and here there aren't many people that know the vines ... thanks god i always could buy the albuns in a record shop where i'm a costumer and just for that they brought me highly evolved & winning days but sadly i don't have any single cd ...

Yeah ur right, actually its what i hoped too because if the vines ever became a "world band" i mean that would b as famous as others very very big bands like Nirvana for ex (i mean "big" as known, The Vines r like the biggest band for me of course ) I think Id not like them as much as I do now. Its so nice to c people looking at me weirdly when I speak bout th vines.... "where did she find that band??"

^ Neither have I. Noone down here seems to even know who they are. They're just that band who had that song on the Nissan ad.

I have yet to meet somebody where i live who knows the vines, but then again most people around here don't really listen to music that isn't instantly accessable, either on tv or radio i suppose. There aren't really any venues to see live music around here which i think does have an effect... places like london, cambridge, leeds etc where there is a music scene are probably much more likely to have people aware of who they are. I always see a few vines t-shirts at festivals and the odd gig but i wouldn't say they were well known by any means.

substitute london, cambridge and leeds with some southern u.s. cites and i could've written that paragraph. most people i know don't listen to music outside the mainstream, country or hip hop. i have to drive three hours to atlanta to see bands who are outside the mainstream. sucks for me.

Yes, I'm so proud that they're from my country. But at the same time ashamed because they had to go overseas to get noticed. I think most people here either know one song by them (Get Free) or they don't even realise they're Australian. I must try to re-educate these people!

Hahahaha well here in venezuela there's little rockers you know?, just a few and they like bands like audioslave, linkin park and that stuff, bands they can get easy access on mtv or another music channel, a lot of people had heard Get Free and Ride, the most of the people that heard those like it, others just don't. The ones who liked it just don't go searching for more and so they just end forgetting the band and that sucks .

The only ones that take the music seriously here are the metal lovers, I have to admit that they do whatever it takes to get them music.

The Vines recordings don't reach our record stores (as every good rock cd), I'm used to that, so if u want to have the cd, buy it on internet, send the money to someone u know in vzla capital or another country or win it in a contest.

So like everyone else when sombody ask me for my favorite band and I say The Vines they just stare like... , but at the same time that's good for me so I'm not "common". But I admit that sometimes I would like to share their good music with someone.

A lot of people here saw the performing on the vma's in 2002? 2003?...(I don't remember the year) and they kinda liked it and others just thought that Craig knocked his head really hard when he was little. The point is that I don't care anymore about what people here thinks, because I can't worry about them musical tastes anymore, if I do so I'll go crazy, mad or whatever.

In the other hand there's a bunch of people here who likes U2, Travis, Coldplay, Radiohead, they seem to have an idea about good music, so they're my goal on my 'vines promoting campaign'

most people i talk to remeber them from get free and ride and maybe outtatheway...they say "hes the guy that freaked out on letterman right?' people i know, know them but dont KNOW them you know?

i got all my firends into them though, including a girl whos favorite bands are manson and deftones and the faint...

I used to think exactly like that (Vines are not well known). Not that I find some more Vines fans over my place, still I haven't; but I think I find quite many people liking them, or at least liking some of their songs, on the internet, like the crap myspace or something else...

Once I talked to a Pulp fan about Jarvis' kiss ( ) she mentioned that she had got a kiss from Craig Nicholls from the Vines (and asked me if I knew them) and The Vines were her fav band. Another day when I said 'life's a wait' by chance, another Pulp fan told me "you remind me of a sweet song - Mary Jane by the Vines" and also, she's a Vines fan too. Both of them are not on this board ever though.

It means something, doesn't it? Cos Pulp and the Vines are not like Pulp and Menswe@r or the Boo Radleys... I mean I was quite surprised when I knew those Pulp fans like the Vines too.

And some Franz Ferdinand and Muse fans that I know also like the Vines

Some people around here in California know who they are but eh. I have a Vines shirt and everyone's all-Whats The Vines? Those psycho monkeys. Most people would probably recognize Ride though.

Most people I know who know about the vines have only heard one or two songs...But I like to introduce new people to the band. In fact, I showed a couple of people in France to the song 'Get Free', and know they love the band.

Theres a music shop up Wednesfield (near me) and it has the cover of Winning Days in the window! i was standing there for about 10 minutes looking at it!!!!!! its not even a BIG music shop.

in germany they arent that famous either. they are never played on tv or radio, i think i might be the only one in my hometown listening to them.

a friend of mine knows them, but only because of the get free video. and thats all he knows about them

my friends only know the vines through me. and they wont be persuaded that they are good either.

Yeah, i only told one person about the Vines, even made him listen to 'em, but he aint interested.

EHHHHHH KIND OFFFF, everyone remembers them usally for "get free" or "ride". or on the furmoage show( its preyy much a show they air every year where a character "Ed ThE Sock" makes fun of a bunch of videos), and "Outtathaway" was on it and he pretty much ripped the video even though I think that ones of their best.
anyways when I ask my friends and stuff about the vines, well some remember them and some don't they kind of exploded and then went back underground. BUT I always play them on the boom box at work so everyone can lisiten to the viney-goodness
