THE ALBUM IS DONE
“This is the best part of making an album! It’s the best part” cried Craig triumphantly as the new album was mastered in Sydney just a few short days ago. The very next day the band all huddled around the radio in Sydney to hear Gross Out played on the radio for the first time, following on from Zane Lowe’s double play in London on Wednesday night – we’ve always liked that nice Zane you know. It sounded great on the radio, hats off Wayne. Gross Out and Don’t Listen To the Radio are now streamed right here for your listening pleasure – thank you all for your patience in waiting so long.

We have an album title too: Vision Valley.

Don't Listen to the Radio will be released as a single in Australia (not sure about the US). The date hasn't been decided. The record labels are also looking into iTunes.

you can't download the songs, silly, or you'd be getting them for free. right now, you have to enjoy streaming for free.

originally, the plan was to release 'don't listen...' as a single for retail in oz, 'gross out' as one in the uk, and 'don't listen...' as a radio-only track in the us. now, the times are catching up with them and both tracks may be made available as mp3s thru iTunes as well - that way, anyone in the world with access to the iTunes music store can purchase and enjoy.

hard CDs may also be released - and let's hope, cos i want the case for the artwork and liner notes.

I should have known it was just too good to be true

they haven't released a track-listing so no one knows an exact number yet. if the songs are all as short as 'don't listen...' and 'gross out,' they'll need to include all the songs they have to reach 15 minutes!

I was wondering about that too...I mean the length of the album

I just hate those 30-minute-long CDs

the strokes latest album would've been better at half the length - or less. too many throwaway songs that sink the album instead of making it stronger...or listenable.

i'd rather have 15 minutes of total bliss from the vines - no songs i want to skip - than twice the length and some flat tunes that go nowhere.

Do you mean to say that The Vines are capable of producing "skippable" songs?

"Don't Listen To The Radio will be released as a retail single in Australia, date tbc." Andy Kelly already confirmed that.

The labels are considering ITunes as one of the main options but all is still being sorted.

According to Biddy Maroney, the artwork is all still being worked out at the moment.

Nope! That is a new shot (and just a portion of it) although they look very Winning Days-ish. The boys' wardrobes are not extensive (as you'll see from the return of Ryan's Freddy Krueger jumper). No striped Craig shirt tho and no shirtless pics but there is one of Craig lying on a rock on the beach that makes me swoon!!!

If they don't have time to get hard cd's printed up maybe they could have a webpage where you can print off the artwork from. Maximo Park are releasing a live version of their next single just as download but they're sending out packs of a blank cd for you to burn it on to and limited edition numbered artwork to the first 2000 to fill out a form on their website. Sounds like a nice thought.

that is an idea!! maximo park appear to be on the cutting edge of lots of good ideas these days.

Believe me I had to do a few 'back and forths' too. But these are new shots and the rock one was on a beach. It's gorgeous. They seriously should make it into a poster.
