I'm so jealous of all you guys that are going/ have been to Aus. I wanna go so bad! I think I'm gonna try to shoot for some kind of study abroad program in my senior semester. I heard they're really difficult to get accepted into, but I'm gonna give it a shot anyway

everyone should try to study abroad for at least a semester when you're in college - it's the best way to travel somewhere for a long period of time cheaply, and when else in your life are you gonna get the opportunity to do that and get credit for it while you're at it?

at most universities, if you can scrap together the funds, aren't you allowed to participate in one of the study abroad programs? i studied in ireland, scotland, england and china for a semester, and anyone who applied went. i think they only turned people down if they had a criminal record. good thing.

Well, when I asked about the program, the impression they gave me was that the selection process was very, well...selective.

I have to write an essay and stuff like that explaining why I should be selected to go over other people that are applying.
I think they give first pick on where you want to go to the people with the better grades. I dunno though. I haven't read too much into it yet because I'm still trying to afford books and all that stuff.

Hopefully by my last semester I'll be able to do it.

puh-leeze. that's what they always say and do so only 'serious' applicants will apply. i went thru the same screening process - had to apply, write an essay (that my dad helped me write!), and even interviewed with the chaperones. me and all my friends got accepted, and some were NOT your stellar uni students. believe you me, if you don't have a criminal record, maintain fair grades, and most importantly, have someone who can cut a check for the trip...you'll be accepted to go where you choose.
