I'm at a hotel because my mom took to me to one of her teaching jobs. She goes out of town almost every weekend to teach and give out tests. She dragged me along because "I don't have a job and have nothing better to. " But it's fun. I'm alone all day in the hotel until about 5 o'clock, so I get up to eat the free breakfast, then go to the gym or to the pool. And if I can, come on the computer, but if I can't I just sit around in the hotel room and do my summer reading for school. (I hate English .) It's so busy here this weekend though. To many people here, it's crazy .

I don't know. I'm about to be a junior in high school, so next year hopefully. I'm not getting my hopes up. Although I did subscribed to their catalouge and they've been sending some e-mails. They do a summer course for high schoolers and I really want to do that. I don't know how that's possible though, because I live so far away. Plus my mom wants me to go to school in my town, but I'm striving to go to the best fashion school in the country. If I don't get accepted, I'll just go there for a semester or something. I'm not a total dunce .

My friend used the Miss Cleo one on me a couple years ago at this dorm we both stayed at . I didn't even recognize it was Miss Cleo, but she was saying something like "why are you calling me dear?" and I was like "no, why are you calling ME?" and she was like "ahh you're a libra aren't ya darling" ...and I was totally confused

After that, the two of us used those recordings on other people in the buliding and some people would talk to it for a few minutes

you should take advantage of that summer course, tish! i'm sure it's gotten very competitive to get in to parsons with the show and all, so anything like that summer course experience could give you a leg up. you'd also learn more about if that's something you really want to do. are you already doing sketches and such? i understand your mom wanting to keep you close, but it's your life and your dream and if pursuing it takes you away to another place, you owe it to yourself to find out.

oh, and when we were at macy's, we saw the winning designs for the first few PR projects in the storefront window (that miss universe dress looks even more spectacular in real life, the color is so gorgeous!!) - and angela/michael/laura's INC outfit is already mass-produced and on sale in the store!

Wow, it sounds like you had fun! I liked Angela's design, if it looks good on me then I'll buy it . Yeah, it is more competitive. Many people around the world want to go there because it's one of the best design schools in the world. It also doesn't help that many famous and successful designers graduated from there . (I love Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan and Behnaz Sarapour!) I'm hoping to convince her somehow, I know my sister will try to help me. I've been doing sketches and have made simple things that aren't too complicated, but I'm taking a sewing and art class at school so hopefully it will pay off. She hasn't really been negative about me pursing to be a fashion designer; I just think she's reluctant to have me leave especially since the school's in New York and my family's in Texas. Plus being the baby in the family doesn't help either .

oh, on the sidewalks thru the fashion district, they have bronze plaques along the way commemorating famous fashion designers - including the ones you listed. well, we know from project runway, you gotta be able to operate a sewing machine, so you're on your way there! and that michael dude mentioned he practiced for trying out of the show by doing their show challenges - i thought that was smart.

my friends who i just went with to nyc will graduate from college in a year, and both want to move there. their parents are the same way - they don't want them to move and don't think they'll go thru with it. one of them is an only child, so her parents really don't want her to move off. but they're pretty set on going and i'm encouraging them to go for it. why not? same for you. so what if you move there, hate it and go back home? at least you tried! but if you don't go....you'll always wonder 'what could have been' and that would suck way more.
