They don't sound very original. Why are they called Dakota?

Yeah, you should really rethink your name. A band from Leeds calling themselves Dakota is ridiculous. I mean, you wouldn't get a band from New York calling themselves Huddersfield, would you?
Having said that, if there was a band from New York called Huddersfield I would probably wet myself.

It would be rather remarkable.

For some reason, the guitar in the intro of the song reminds me of... The song in the Progressive commercials. o_o *shrugs* Maybe I'm just weird. XD - Having said that once again.

at least theyre not called the westminster abbey like the other band...(with all respect to the ihearttwa girl)
i just don't really understand why you would name your band after a place
imagine a band being named New Zealand or something

You know what?
Maybe. They had a weird experience in a pick up truck...
Cause, you know, Dodge Dakota... And, since they had a weird/inspiring/fun/whatever experience, they said "Hey, remember that one time... in the Dakota."
And then, it snapped! : O "We should name our band after your truck!!"
"Okay!"
Heh, okay, I highly doubt that THAT happened, but, I'm presenting the possibilities.

Dakota is a word from the Sioux tribe, meaning “allies” or "friends".
Most of the states in the US are Native American words, as are many of the towns, cities, lakes and rivers.
