I LOVE them. They actually didn't break up. Daniel says they are doing another album next year probably. They just are doing their own things for a little bit. I thought they broke up as well, though. Neon Ballroom is a genious album.

Oh actually he's ok now. The reactive arthritis was really bad though. For months he couldn't get out of bed even.. that's why they didn't tour hardly in 2002. Did you ever see The Making of Diaroma video? He noticed his knees were really swollen but just thought they were filled with fluid from sleeping on them wrong or something... ...I swear, it looked like there was a grapefruit on his knees it looked insane.

no i didnt but man when i saw him on television playing that final concert...it was just terrible, he tried to rock out but, he looked like he was in so much pain..

You had no idea how obsessed I used to be with Silverchair. But then, I saw The Vines live and they became my favourite band from there and now I barely ever listen to Silverchair anymore. Sad story. But I still like them. I hated 'Frogstomp' though. But 'Neon Ballroom'. Oh my god, I LOVE 'Neon Ballroom'. That album reduces me to tears everytime I hear it. 'Freak Show' is amazing too. 'Diorama is okay, but I find myself skipping a lot of songs when I listen to the album.

Speaking of Silverchair, Annie, I'm uploading the 'Across The Night' video from them right now. I swear that's still one of my favourite videos of all time even though I barely ever listen to Silverchair anymore. Daniel Johns looks like a mime. He's so cute.
You know, I feel like listening to 'Neon Ballroom' right now. This thread kind of inspired me to get back into them a bit.

YES!! I love them. Their first two albums are good, but Neon Ballroom and Diorama are both amazing. My fave songs by them are Miss You Love and Untitled.
I'm so happy they're doing another album.

That "untitled" song is so good, I love the cello in it. But it's so sad "all I can think of are ways to die alone"


Neon Ballroom is soooo amazing. I love that album so much it's definately one of my all time favorite albums. It's pretty depressing though. At times (if I'm having depression issues) I can't even listen to some songs on it because the emotions expressed are so strong. But it is brilliant. I've loved that album ever since it came out.

Across The Night is a magical song.

I love these lads.

But I also adore Frogstomp to death! That album was a friggen thriller in manilla!

Silverchair have confirmed rumours that they are currently making music together in regional New South Wales. The band has also announced that they plan to record a new album and do at least a few gigs during 2006. The trio has sold more than six million albums during the last ten years. Their most recent CD - 2002’s “Diorama” - was their most acclaimed and their highest seller in Australia to date. Following their sold out “Across The Night Tour” in 2003, Silverchair took an extended break and worked on other projects. The group is currently working up lots of new material which has been written over the last two years. They plan to take a short break over Christmas and then do more rehearsals through early 2006. Following this they will ‘road test’ some of the new music by doing a few Australian shows. The first of these to be announced is a special appearance in Adelaide on Friday March 24 after the Clipsal 500 event. More information about another show or two will be released over coming months. Providing all goes well with these very select dates the band will then start recording their new album around next May. It will probably be released in late 2006 or early 2007 and more extensive touring is penciled thereafter.'

i like silverchair as well. i really wanted to see them live, but i missed they're concerts

'Untitled' is such a....urgh..I can't explain it. It's just so beautiful in a weird, depressing way. The lyrics are amazing. "Left selfish and hungry so feed me the pain". I love that line.
Neon Ballroom made me get throguh all my depressed moments. I love the fact that the emotions are expressed strongly. It brings out the emotion in me which is a good thing coz I have a problem with bottling up everything inside and then blowing up on all the wrong people when even the littlest things piss me off.

I prefer the dissociatives. Paul Mac is a musical genius and should be at the front alongside Daniel.

I know, I hardly recognized him either . He's changed alot since being that skinny little boy that I remember him being from the time Neon Ballroom came out. Oops. That didn't sound too nice I didn't mean that in a bad way! he looks really healthy now but WHY did he cut his hair? It's funny what a dramatic change is there if you look at pictures from when Diaroma came out he was going through such a femine stage then!

The hair thing bothers me . But I'm glad he's looking much healthier. I have to admit he looked like a cutie when he was a bit thinner (not when he was dangerously thin) ...but I think another thing is that he was younger then. What do you guys think of his tattoos? I kinda like the vine-like one on his shoulder. you actually can't really see the whole thing in that picture.

That picture was taken at a live show they played to help tsunami victims (Wave Aid) last January. Maybe his hair has grown a bit since? *hopes*

Yesterday I was listening to 'The Greatest View' over and over again. I get butterflies in my stomach on the chorus and I get all giggly. Yeah. Music has that effect on me. Haha I'm such a nerd.

It sounds like a love song but if you listen closely there are hints as to what it's really about...

Haha when that song came out I was 14... I kinda ignored that line and thought it was a love song (well at first) and then I saw something on TV where Daniel talked about aneroxia and they said it was the subject of the new single "Ana's Song" ...I was so wrong of course

I think it's really clever how it's disguised as a love song, but its really about anorexia. I love the last line, "When Ana wrecks your life, like an anorexia life". I much prefer they're slower songs to the heavy ones. Across the night is awesome, I love how it completely changes half way though.

Wow, Daniel sure has changed alot. Hmm, I have to say I liked him better when he was a bit skinnier, but good to see that he's more healthy and doing great. He looks a bit poppy to me though, nevermind. I still love all the great music they've made. It's been a while since I've listened to them, maybe I should. I love Ana's song too and just nearly every song they've made. Glad to hear that they're making some new stuff and maybe planning to tour a bit

I own Freak Show, That's a pretty good record. I'm not a huge Silverchair fan but, I do love that record.
