i get what you're saying, but i don't have the willpower not to listen as soon as i get my grubby little mitts on that new cd. i'll be ripping the cellophane off as i walk to the car, and i will probably sit in my car in the store parking lot and listen to it all the way through - trying not to wet my knickers from excitement.  biggrin.gif

like you, i do want to listen to it and experience it on my own before reading what others say - i'll be excited to read everyone's opinions about the album as a whole and individual songs, but there's just something about hearing those tracks for the first time without any preconceived notions that makes it that much more special.  wink.gif
*

haha.. Exactly my point. biggrin.gif tongue.gif
And it's not that I've got willpower, its more or less, I just need to hear is at the PERFECT moment, and no interuptions, and stuff. haha

But.. You have to PROMISE me.. When you are sitting in the parking lot, listening to that album, you have to have it cranked up so EVERYONE can hear the wonderfullness of it.

Plus, it's funny to see people's expressions, on whether they like it, or not, or just think your crazy. And, if you singe along, it would be even more great. hahaha laugh.gif

"OMGz did you hear that!"
"This song is sweet shit"
"whoa..."
"::runs around in circles::"

that's not a promise i have to make because i always do that anyway! tongue.gif i can't tell you the number of times i've turned off my car, the soundsystem the last thing to kick off, and it's blasting - you'd think the vines were actually in my car performing the songs. laugh.gif and yeah, i get a lot of these looks... blink.gif

i don't care, i sing at top volume with them too - the dogs in surrounding neighborhoods really appreciate that. rolleyes.gif wink.gif but the first time i listen to the new cd i'm sure will be more quiet and reverant because i will be in such love and awe. wub.gif then i'll come here and spaz with the rest of you. biggrin.gif

haha.. Yes, the rest of us, and the millions of other fans who will magically flock to the forum. haha

Maybe thats another reason I'm going to stop comming here, until I acctually hear it.. haha tongue.gif laugh.gif (kidding. biggrin.gif )

The Vines 'back on track'
'Edgier and wilder' third album in the bag
The Vines have overcome the traumas of recent years and completed their third album.

The band have just completed a four-week stint in Sydney's BJB Studios with producer Wayne Connerly, and made an album he says is "edgier and wilder".

The sessions mark a return to action for the band, who looked on the verge of collapse when frontman Craig Nicholls was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome.

"There's a bunch of different styles on this record," Connerly told NME. "He's kind of got a little bit of that space rock stuff but he's also got some really intense wild punk rock, there something very primal about it."

He added: "Then he's got a couple of great Beatles kind of punk rock songs, a bit of sixties beat garage stuff, a couple of really good indie slacker tracks and a bit of soaring pop stuff like that. A few strings. He's always been a really big fan of that lush production, whether it's been obvious in the past."

Working track titles include 'Nothing's Coming', 'Any Sound' and 'Take Me Back'.

And relations within the band are good, says Connerly. "The morale's been really good because they do enjoy recording. It kind of makes it easier for everybody. Craig doesn't really devote himself to the serious issues of the day, he pretty much devotes most of his energy to hiding behind doors and scaring people. It's great to see his eccentric playful side."

However, bass player Patrick Matthews has played a minimal role in the new album, since his side project Youth Group took off.

The album is expected to be released next year, though management have previously gone on record saying that the band will "never" go on a traditional tour again.

Now I don't feel as stupid when I do that in my Algebra class!
*

I used to do that, before I was homeschooled. Except, it was in English 'cause I love Maths.
manger
You're homeschooled? Lucky.

I think I might be, soon, though, because I seperate school and home so much, that if when I get homework assignments, I can't do them, unless I do them at school, because in my head, school is work and home is home, so I can't mix them.. lol

So they figure they'll just combine them for me, so I can just do it all, and be in a comfortable environment all the time. Or something. lol I think they think the seperation, and the environment in school is whats making me most unhappy, but I like riding on the bus, so I don't know what they are talking about. laugh.gif

Sorry. I just decided I felt like talking about random stuff, and branching off of what you said about being homeschooled. lol

I think you are a very intellegent person, xautumnxshade. smile.gif I agree with everything you said. Although there are often misdiagnosises (huh.gif) disorders like AS and ADD definitely exist. There is more to them than being "odd" or "eccentric".  They were born with their brain wired in a different way, and theres nothing they can do to change that. In the case of AS, there are a whole lot of symptoms that seem completely unrelated, such as a good memory, sensory sensitivity, and strange accents. This suggests a lot more than just being different to the norm.

Thankyou. biggrin.gif Yeah, I hate my voice. lol. I think it's annoying, most of the time. haha It's kind of like monotone, in that there's only like one level to it (though it doesn't sound like dull or boring or anything.. just on the same level.. lol) Well, I think you are intellegent, too, and very nice, as well. biggrin.gif

(Sorry I replyed so far behind, but I was just looking at it, and saw I didn't reply to it.. haha So, Im sorry. lol)

'revolution' or 'helter skelter'? huh.gif i think they mean pop songs with a bit of 'edge' ala 'fuck the world' or 'get free' - poppy but not all goodness and light.

it sounds like a good mix of songs like all other vines albums - and that variety is one of the reasons i love them the way i do. wub.gif
marilyn_monroe
Yeah, Wayne's descriptions of the songs really kinda confused me blink.gif Oh well, I'm just happy to hear something! and I've always loved Craig's variation in songwriting, it's amazing and it shows true talent when someone can do such a wide range of styles. That's what actually got me into the vines. When I heard the whole record I was like... wow... such a nice variety of songs biggrin.gif brilliant songs may I add!

Well, then I would have to scare him, too. That's like my hobby; scaring people. But I've already said that (When I said I especially liked scaring my 2 year old cousin, kelsie, because she loves it and thinks its funny.. haha)

These update posts never seem to get old as once again it had made my day. I am excited to get this new album when it is released and by the sounds of it the direction the band is going in is good. Also a shame that Patrick hasn't been their.

Oh yes, you know it.

It's not to scary, though, when I scare people, then start cracking up at them.. haha It's funny. And Kelsie, she just laughing and goes "Again! Again!" haha. Shes great.

I worry about her, sometimes, though. But, yeah. We are too much alike for my liking.. unsure.gif

I don't know if this was really worth making a whole new thread for, but the Vines have finally completed their 3rd album!

The Ultimate-Guitar Article

Australian rockers The Vines have announced that have just completed their third album. Following a four-week stint in Sydney's BJB Studios with producer Wayne Connerly, the band say that the new record is "edgier and wilder".

The sessions mark the first return to the studio for the band since frontman Craig Nicholls was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. "There's a bunch of different styles on this record," Connerly told the NME.

Relationships and morale within the band are also said to have improved according to Connerly, though bass player Patrick Matthews has played a minimal role in the new album since his side project Youth Group took off.

The record is set to be released next year, though Nicholls' condition means uncertainty over any potential tour, according to GIGWISE.com.

smile.gif

PS. the article doesn't mention the album name, has anybody heard of it?
allie9609
It's way to early for album names - I dunno if the guys would even have thought of one yet - then again, knowing Craig he's probably already decided wub.gif . I don't think we'll be finding out for quite a while yet. Probably not till a few months into next year, that's my guess anyway.
garbage
whoaaa wub.gif

but... "edgier and wilder"?

it seems that many fav bands of mine'd like to turn into 'hard rocking'... The Strokes, Jarvis, and now The Vines (?)
