Never played one, I dunno. Cobain rarely used it though, he usually stuck with a Jaguar.
I wouldn't ever take to the stage with one, unless you want to be laughed at for being a Kurt wannabe.
There's a tab site further up the page, also some obscure stuff I posted earlier in the thread.
Tips if you're starting out - Learn the names of chords! It makes your life a hell of a lot easier. You don't have to learn theory (I sure don't know it), but if someone says Cadd9 you should be able to picture in your head what it looks like.
Learn as many songs as you can. Chords, riffs, whatever. All your favourite songs, even some you don't like. Hell, I can play some Limp Bizkit.
Also learn to work out how to play songs yourself. It'll take you a while to get to this point, maybe after a year or so, but you'll improve a lot once you start. The trick is to listen to the song and think, "where have I heard this first chord before?"
This is why it's important to learn lots of songs. Maybe the first chord of this song sounds the same as the first chord in Winning Days. That's an F. You just worked out a chord. Easy!

I almost bought a Jagstang, too. But in Germany I couldn't get it. Now, I've got a Fender Strat Mexico Standard in blue agave and a Fender Cyclone. Soon I'll sell my guitars and buy an esp ltd e 400 in olympic white. It's the guitar out of my dreams.

. Well, I think that the jagstang is a very nice guitar and you'll be happy with it. And usually you don't need vines tabs, because it's not difficult to play their songs. You just have to take some time to hear the guitar out of the song. Try it. Everyone can do that

Someone on a guitar forum had a link to the song in their profile and I couldn't resist. I kept streaming it over and over and I just had to tab it. The tab is here:
http://skubz.untildeath.org/stuff/Don'...Radio%20tab.txtThis is it:
CODE
Don't Listen to the Radio
by The Vines
tabbed by skubz (Grunge on UG)
The intro is basically a bunch of feedback and the palm muted verse.
It would be hard to tell you exactly what to do to feedback like that
(especially since I don't know), but a lot of distortion and putting
your pickups near your amp helps.
Verse (Clean or overdriven with palm muting)
e|------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------------------------|
G|----------2-------------------------------------------------|
D|----------2------7--(strum for a bit------------------------|
A|-(either)-0-(or)-7--until end of line)----------------------|
E|-----------------5-------------------------0--3--5----------|
"Don't listen to the radio, here's something that you ready know."
(I'm having a little trouble hearing exactly what they're playing,
but I think its a palm muted A5 mostly, and the bass is adding in
a few notes. But, to substitute for the bass (if that is afterall,
how they play it) you can add the notes on the low E that I written
above)
(Notes: Sometimes, there is none of that little bass bit at the
end of the line. You really just need to listen for it. Also, I
find it easier playing the A5 with one finger barring the second
frets, you can then fret the bass notes with your middle and
pinky fingers.)
Chrous (Distortion)
C5 E5 A5
e|------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------------------------|
G|-5---------------9---------------2--------------------------|
D|-5-(strum)-------9-(strum)-------2-(strum for a bit longer)-|
A|-3---------------7---------------0--------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------------------|
"Get out 'the way today, yeah!"
(You can make these into barre chords also, it doesn't sound
half bad. You can also substitue this A5 with the one shown above
Song ends on an A5.)
Solo
e|------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------------------------------5-|
G|-9-9-9-6-7-6-7-6-------9-9-9-6-7-6-7-6------7-5---7-5-7-8---|
D|-----------------5---------------------5--------7-----------|
A|------------------------------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------------------|
(Timing is easy, listen to the song and you'll figure it out)
It's an easy song really. I just heard a version (that I read was an
early one, but whatever) this morning and thought that it would be
nice to tab it for the Vines fans (like myself :D) If you have any
questions, comments, complaints, e-mail is skubz@cox.net
Please ask permission before reposting/republishing it on another site
or anything like that. Thanks!
Have fun!

lol, I have the magazine sitting next to me actually, the cover makes me giggle. I didn't really enjoy what it had to offer inside of it. BUT the cover was well worth the money.

I'd say Autumn Shade or Ride, but most of their songs aren't overly hard to play.
Jammeh
Feb 5 2006, 01:23 PM
Ride has barre chords, that's no good for a beginner. Autumn Shade has a Bb which was a chord I had trouble with when I was starting out.
Easy ones -
Give Up Give Out Give In
TV Pro
Amnesia (Depends how far along you are - the riff has hammer-ons)
Animal Machine
Down At The Club

Your guitar must be tuned half a step down, the song is in A, not Bb.

Hmmm I was slightly dissapointed in "Don't Listen To The Radio"... the chorus sounds great but the verse sound so much like "Yummy yummy yummy i put food in my tummy" and that took me back.

but, still. Someone should tell those people not to tab unless they know what their doing!

I noticed that the Animal Machine tab on there (the best out of them) was kind of wrong... However, for the most part, it was right... I mean, it doesn't really matter, as long as you got the general sound. If it sounds the same, then it is the same.
Though, I did find the way he plays it, watching a live perfomance. So, I just kind of studied what he did. I didn't get much of the solo though, so, I just improvise and then combine what little that I saw with the tabs from Ultimate Guitar.
