You know, i used to listen to my cousins saying how they grew up listnening to Nirvana, Mudhoney, and Pearl Jam.

And how they were generation defining artists, and how they affected their lives so much.... and so the bull**** goes on.

But I claim the Vines for me to being my soul.

I'm only 19, and in a band called Grenache (see off topic > Music) for my thread on my band.

But i hear alot of crap about the vines being finished, and how nicholls is a twat and bla bla bla bla fucking bla.

I'll be the first to admit i havent touched my vines vinyls in a while - infact problem over a year now.

But one thing i havent done is abandon the band, who defined me for who i am today.

When the vines came out I was only in grade 11, and it was the awakening i needed as a teenager.

I could go on forever. I mean, i used to listen to the vines album in full before i went to sleep, and in full before i'd head of to school. (thats highly evolved i'm talkin about).

*By the way, i'm just smashed on wine at the moment. mwahaaaa thats london life for ya.*

But the purpose of this thread it to say a big F*** YOU to everyone who mocks the vines.

They have made some of the most beautiful songs I've heard. So what if they are nothing when compared to Hendrix. thats the worse comparison on earth.

For me, when i'm in need of chilling out, or when my girlfriends (notice the plural! haha) are giving me a hard time... for me, i just used to come home and listen to highly evolved and winning days.

Winning days, Rainfall, Mary jane, Sun Child, Amnesia... they offered me escape from reality - without getting high on dope.

So for all you loyal vines fans out there - even if the vines make a shite 3rd album - you have every right to stick by the band that define you.

We owe it to the vines to stay loyal.

just wanted to say that I totally get what you saying in your first post. The vines was the band who got me into listening to good and decent music and for that I will always love them.
I also hate it when I hear shit being said about them being over and out I'm possitive that they'll come back with a brilliant third album and if not we'll always have HE and WD. But yeah, The Vines really mean alot to me, for sure!

it was there we heard the best performance of Mary Jane by them
