jet are set to release their new album in the first quarter of next year - being a capitol and w&g band as well, i'm not sure if that will affect the vines release date or not.

Repetitive, unoriginal music just seems to be very popular I guess .
It would really suck if that happened and the next Vines album was delayed for Jet . Not only cause we'd have to wait longer but because Craig would probably have written more songs by the time they have to go promote the ablum they're recording now. So he'll be even less eager to do any touring (even limited) since he'll be wanting to get back into the studio. Well that's my theory anyway. I'm still hopeful for a March/April release *crosses fingers* .

Edit: I'm sure I've said the same thing somewhere else in this forum a few months ago last time this came up - oh well - there it is again .

I say we start a petition to delay the Jet album. Why must we be subjected to that crap?

yeah, i got a google news alert saying the same thing but from a site called 'drowned in sound.' note they said 'provisional' release date, which means capitol may have thought to have had it out then but...

according to andy k, who should know ( ), after taking a two week break from the studio, craig just spent this past week recording all the vocals. they still have the mixing to go. he's saying middle of the year, so until we hear otherwise, as much as we'd like it sooner than later...it appears to be later. *waits*

i found this on drowned in sound, i don't know how reliable it is but it thinks it has the release date for the album, anyway i'm sure brooklyn girl can confirm it or not. if its right then it would be great

A release date for the forthcoming album, the band's third major release following Highly Evolved and 2004's Winning Days, has been set as March 7th 2006. The band's last long-playing effort was met with rather lukewarm praise, so it'll be interesting to hear what tricks, if any, the Australians have up their sleeves to appease critics once more.
Tour wise, Craig's Asperger's Syndrome diagnosis, reported here, is likely to be an obstacle. Further news as and when we have it.

The only accurate resource is management and the band. Take anything else with a grain of salt.

Hopefully this album won't be aload of bollocks. If they go back to their "Highly Evolved" roots then that's going to be dissapointing. Winning Days was a far better album in my opinion. The mix of tracks on that record were amazing. A mixture of slow/fast/upbeat/mellow and trippy tracks, It was the "perfect" record for alot of music fans. So, I hope they'll keep their "Winning Days" sound and not go back to being the next "Nirvana".

But everyone has their own opinion because lots wanted WD to be more like HE. I love WD too but I hope this album will stand on its own and not be a copy of either album...just really good tracks.

And from what I've been told by the Vines, the new tracks are "mind-blowing."

both albums had a lot of variety - i'm not sure what you mean. at the end of the day, which album was 'better' is a matter of personal preference.

one of the reasons i love the vines the way i do is because craig can do it all - ballads, psychedelia, pop, crunchy rock. it's a songwriting gift few possess.

whatever they do,i'm sure this album is gonna rock !

by the way i really love both of their album and i can't really choose one of them coz both of them are different and special to me....
