Oh no! I just saw a 'no more Appreciation thread' thingy!

And the edit thingy doesn't allow title changes!?

Oof.

...

It's been a shoegaze weekend. Makes me weep for the early 90's. Chapterhouse and MBV totally transport me back to that time, and Swervedriver makes me feel like I'm still speeding down windy wooded roads back home with the headlights out on a hot summer night.

*weeps*

Who else misses those days? Or loves the shoegaze scene?

and add slowdive, st. etienne, ride, boo radleys, early blur, elastica's first few singles...oh yeah, that was a great era. wub.gif

and don't worry about the 'appreciation' thingie - this is an era, not a specific band, so it should be okay. wink.gif

i think that was more about people/forum members.

Isn't Anything is far better than Loveless. That album is too vague for me, though Soon is their best song. And When You Sleep and Sometimes are great too. I prefer their punkier stuff, like Feed Me With Your Kiss, You Never Should and You Made Me Realise.

I've heard some Ride but I wasn't too impressed. It was only two songs though.

There's still some shoegazer type music out there-Autolux, Ambulance ltd., The Unicorns(sort of). I guess you could call them shoegazer.
Dark_Requiem
Sigur Ros is shoegazer and they are new. But I don't like them.

i'm the opposite - i prefer 'loveless' but some of that is time and place and memories associated with it. 'only shallow' (obvs), 'when you sleep,' 'sometimes' and 'soon' are my favorites.

ride's album 'going blank again' is another one i love as much for memories associated with it as the pull of songs such as 'leave them all behind' and 'ox4.' or were those the two songs that underwhelmed you? huh.gif wink.gif

It was Seagull and something else from their first album. In all honesty I didn't really give them a proper listen, and I'll probably buy one of their albums if I see it at a decent price.

I think I prefer Isn't Anything To Loveless too. (When You Wake) You're Still In A Dream = sex.
