at one point they (andy k) said out of the 13 demos they did, they expected 10 to make it onto the album, and that may still be the case. they may use the other 3 as b-sides, but obvs if they're recording 13 songs they plan on releasing them in some form or fashion.

I'm so happy! I must be very behind, but who cares. The Vines are recording their 3rd album. Tha's great. I know it must be old news for everyone but i just got back from my holly I had a very bad day today but this news cheered me up. Cheerios...hehe

Actually it'd be more a mix of B & C. I'll probably end up forcing the CD store to play it.

Oh, didn't think of that, I should probably go to my local music store and tell them to order it for me whenever they announce the release date.

One knows certain people in order to do this. Doesn't always work but worth a shot. There's always Ebay.

^ that could be said of any band - but bands/labels can't control what people decide to do who dl early. i can only answer for myself, and i always buy when it's officially available - but if an album leaks early by a band i love, i'll get it if i can.

I guess the same could be said by the person who loves the band but can't afford to buy the album. And you and I both know the guys were pretty upset when it happened. I'm glad I took no part in that and actually stopped people from passing it along on the forum. I just didn't have the heart.

if you'll remember, i told patrick to his face that day in atlanta that i had dl-ed early - it wasn't set to be released for another week or more when we saw them - i love the band and wanted to hear the songs as soon as possible. i wasn't going to be a hypocrite and pretend i hadn't when i asked how he felt about the early leak. patrick was pretty mealy-mouthed on the issue, but i'm sure he wasn't happy about it.

i completely agree, it sucks that people would dl it and then not buy it. and i'm not just talking about early leaks - cos albums are available on the web for dl any time. officially released material should be paid for - it's the artists' work, they earned it.

i guess in my little (un)ethical corner of the world i can justify my dl-ing early when i know i'm going to give the band their money the day its released (gotta boost those first week album sales ).

does that mean .com will allow early leaks here? no. the mods probably won't allow it - and my vote will be we shouldn't. but does that mean i won't get it off someone else? again, i'm not gonna lie and say i won't. i'm sure i will. i'm weak.

in other words, he wouldn't come right out and say i was 'going to hell' for dl-ing it early, but you could tell he was thinking it.



then of course they probably wouldn't buy it. i know it happened with some people at .net, but again you have no control over any one but yourself. even though i'm sure .com and dti won't allow downloads to be made available on the sites, that doesn't mean people won't be pm-ing/IM-ing the tracks to each other off the site, y'know? and i know some people - fans - who dl-ed it way after its release and still had to be prodded to actually go out and buy it. if you love a band, you find a way to buy their releases.

couldn't have said it better myself! Everything Jen said is exactly how I feel and what I would honestly do. It's really hard to say no when you know you can hear the music early...but without a doubt I will be at the record store the day of the release! I do feel really bad about how it leaked before. It kind of ruins things, I definately wouldn't have been happy if it had been me. *feels guility for listening to WD when it leaked* ...but of course I bought it right away and listened to it on repeat in my car for ages! And yes I may have skipped Evil Town a few times as well

I didn't know that Winning Days had leaked out before the release. I'm betting that's probably why Winning Days didn't do as well as Highly Evolved.

If the next album does leak, I'm not even going to touch it, and I'll do my best to prevent people from downloading it early. If we've been waiting for close to two years for this next album and it leaks a couple of weeks before the release, don't you think we could wait for just a few more weeks if we've already been waiting for so much longer? It's like having that one cookie before dinner, if you have it, you ruin your dinner and probably get a tummy ache when you could have saved yourself from a bit of pain and waited a little while longer for dinner.

i wanted to know for sure or if i'm wrong: what gonna happen with the beautifuk 'Going Gone'?? i heard some stuff about it but ..i don't know.

we're all hoping it will be properly recorded and show up on the album - craig and ryan did perform 'going gone' along with one other song at the w&g christmas party, so they must care about the song - but i guess we won't know for sure until more information is released about the album and its track-listing.

here's hoping...i love it too.
