One can still be a non-religious type and still believe in God.

How is that possible? Non-religious is not the same as non-practicing. I don't go to church every Sunday but I still consider myself a believer.

What i meant was, one doesn't have to practice any religion, tho they can still believe in God. They would just consider themselves a "spiritual" person...but don't follow any set rules, as in what religion teaches.
That's how it's possible.

Thats not what being religious is. Being religious isnt just a belief in God. Being religious is following a denomination, like for instance, being catholic, or jewish. Those are religious people, not someone who is just spirtiual and believes in God, or a higher power.

See I don't agree with that. I consider myself religious because I was raised Catholic, I pray and believe in God and heaven and hell. I just don't believe in everything that's preached in the Catholic religion. I'm not a regular church goer because I don't believe in paying for an institution that receives tax breaks and should be free to all. Just because my views are different than the pope's doesn't make me a non-believer. I would never turn my back on my faith.

Well then i rest my case. Thats exactly what i am saying! You have the religious background, you have that faith you were raised with, therefore you are religious ! BINGO!

I think we werent quite on the same page, we misunderstood each other.
Hopefully this clears it up.

Sometimes I wonder why I still follow my faith because I find so many things wrong with it but I really shouldn't blame the religion. I should blame man who sometimes uses it for their own selfish needs, like televangelists. They are horrid.
