I do own Frances the Mute. Because one of my friends liked it, and it was on clearence. But I thought it sucked.

I have the album. It's great. But you kind of have to be in the mood to listen to the entire album.

I love the mars volta, I like de-loused better, but probably cause I can't speak spanish. I can't really listen to just one song by them, usually just put in the whole album.

Guitarwank. At The Drive-In were absolutely thrilling. The Mars Volta are...not.

Deloused is better then The Mars Volta, but I do get kind of bored of there songs. Comaradestripe is right, At The Drive-In are fantastic.

If you don't like the "mess of sound" then you miss the entire point of The Mars Volta, at least in the context of this particular album, in my ever so humble opinion.

I like the Mars Volta, but I wouldn't want to listen to them constantly.....

I like them like the Strokes in that respect.....

they are a great live band, maybe if you see them live you would understand Mars Volta sober

The Mars Volta is probably the greatest band currently playing. Their live shows are always new, and their blend of influences is just amazing. They just finished their third album as well, and I'm sure that will be even better than Frances the Mute. I really do feel sorry for anyone who does not like their music.

By the way, you cannot label the Mars Volta as just guitarwank. They have a great vocalist, a great bassist, a great keyboard player, a great drummer, and many other great musicians in their band.
