Now, there might be nothing wrong with being The Vines. They've sold more than a million CDs and managed to pull their label/management company/publisher (that'd essentially be Ivy League on all counts) out of the financial hole in less time than it took to write the first line of "Highly Evolved". On the other side of the ledger, they'd played only a handful of live gigs when they broke (a cardinal sin in many eyes) and their singer's erratic behaviour (medically-induced and thus, not his fault either) attracted headlines like a bag of week-old prawns draw flies on a hot day.

It's no crime to have worked at South Hurstville McDonalds (hell, I'm eaten there) but I'm no fan of The Vines' music - it sounds like Nirvana being force-fed a strawberry Thickshake through a tube, although an early 7" single wasn't too bad - but even I felt a tinge of regret when I heard the sound of hipster knives being drawn as their follow-up album failed to make the same impression.

smart. pretty. 21. got long hair. tall. not skinny, not fat, but curvy [i'll stick to that]. arty. intelligent. pretentious indie chick. sick sense of humour. strange enough to be interesting and absolutely lovable.


You have to be at least one of these:

smart. interesting. 19-32yrs. scottish/ irish/ english. arty and intelligent. like art and intelligent films. but then again not so arty and pretentious that you can't appreciate the brilliance of dude wheres my car. tall. not too skinny. i tend to like army guys but that's probably just because they're brainwashed, easy to use [oh. sure i meant to say 'to deal with', not 'use'] and fit. i also like scruffy indie guys with asymmetrical hair and issues. n.b. if your life is more fucked up than mine you're welcome to apply but don't expect me to fix you.
you have to like music. not just that, you have to like My kind of music. that would be mainstream indie/punk/ alternative etc. + all the fun stuff. you need know who Lord Byron was. would be good if you liked the colour red. and you should have some kind of dress sense [doens't mean you have to look good as long as you can argue that pink+red+silver+tartan is a good combination. im sure it is]. you like going out to gigs, clubs, theatre, parks, ice skating. it's good if you like fat cats and policemen [i think one of us should like be able to deal with those things and i'm allergic to both].


i'm sure i did good job scaring you away. but mum always says it's good to know what i want. I want a 24 year old tall hot Scottish indie boy who likes Dude Where's My Car and Casablanca.
