I went to see them last night, and they were absolutely ace, so I thought I'd say so here in case anyone likes them/saw them. The new songs sounded top, and not only did they play All The Songs You'd Want Them To Play, ...TOD#1 (I don't know which one he is...he's the one that sings It Was There That I Saw You as opposed to Homage...the slightly less crazy one) did a good section of Gloria by Patti Smith during one of the songs (I think it was A Perfect Teenhood, but I might be wrong). Yum.

I don't know what to think of the new stuff - too polished, not loud enough. Still, Source Tags and Codes is one of my favorite albums of the last few years.
sunchild.
i've heard of them, but never actually heard them, what's the music like?
Nancy Bee
I like their Madonna album better

can't wait for the new album. and, and, when and where was this show? Gloria by Patti Smith... GEEEE I love that song.
kaleidoscope_eyes
yes, they're very good.

My father was mentioning to me something about this band the other night, so I think he likes them. I'll have to give them a listen.

Wow some familiar usernames here cool.gif
Maxwell Demon
I like them!
at least what I've heard by them

I listened to some snippets and watched a video of theirs on MTV.com several months ago

I've yet to actually get out and pick up a CD or anything though
gotta wait for some gift certificates on christmas (hopefully ::crosses fingers:: )

Are those the FAMOUS Nancy B and Jane Doe? Ace!

...Trail Of Dead are one of my favourite bands ever. Madonna is a ridiculously ace album, and Source Tags And Codes is also wonderful. The self-titled is, of course, top, but those are the particularly brilliant ones. Get them, and you won't regret it.

I saw ...TOD earlier tonight, and once again, they were fantastic. They're one of the best live bands I've ever seen. The new songs sounded, for the most part, great, particularly Will You Smile Again?, Caterwaul and The Rest Will All Follow. They also played a couple of unusual choices from Source Tags and Madonna, which was great.

Songs I can remember them playing:

Ode to Isis (Overture)
Will You Smile Again?
It Was There That I Saw You

(These were the three openers, and they were amazing. The rest are in no particular order, except RSM, which was definitely last)

A Classic Arts Showcase
Caterwaul
The Rest Will Follow
Days Of Being Wild
Heart In The Hand Of The Matter
Another Morning Stoner
A Perfect Teenhood (again featuring bits of Gloria by Patti Smith)
Totally Natural
Aged Dolls
Clair De Lune
Richter Scale Madness.

They really were brilliant. If they're touring near you soon, go and see them. The drumming is particularly amazing.

I've heard of them but haven't really ever thought about listening to them but if you say they are good

I really, really, really like Madonna and Source Tags & Codes, but, in all honesty, I'm not too fond of the new album.
comradestripe
That's pretty much the common consensus. There are some undeniably amazing songs on Worlds Apart: Will You Smile Again?, The Rest Will Follow and Caterwaul, but the others, I think, require careful listening. If you sit down with the lyrics and listen to each one carefully a couple of times, they grow on you. I think you really have to understand what they mean in each song, though, to 'get' them. I agree, though; I think Madonna and ST&C are better.

I'd like to experience one of their liveshows as well. They're lovely.
comradestripe
As I said, they're one of the live bands I've ever seen. The amount they put into every gig is phenomenal.
Feedums
Now I want to go even more than I did already!

But judging by the way my luck works, who knows if they'll come to Holland again? dry.gif

http://www.trailofdead.net has a couple of gigs you can download, I think.

Yes, I'm definately going to sit down and give Worlds Apart many more, careful, listens, because I know how albums can be like that. Sometimes they take time and careful listening to really appreciate the songs. I've just been so wrapped up in Madonna and Source Tags that I haven't had a lot of time for Worlds Apart (because Madonna and Source Tags are still relatively new to me, I need to wait until I wear them out before I can bring myself to move onto something new.)
comradestripe
That's fair enough. There's so much to get from those two albums that I wouldn't want you to overlook them. Any favourites?

They just toured here. :/

Well, she is talking about Trail Of Dead. tongue.gif

*puts on her most innocent eyes, 'cause she knows Comradestripe will later chase her with an onion ring*

By the way, I have downloaded a few gigs. Bloody unbelievable. Really, really ace. It'd be great to have them here again one day.

It's even framing a waitress.

Anyway, she wasn't talking about ...TOD; she was talking about herself again.

Actually I got to admit they were live on this tvshow and I listened to it for 30 seconds and then turned it off because I somehow didn't really like it :/

Well from Madonna I'd say "Mistakes and Regrets" and "Totally Natural" at the moment...but I'm fond of all of the songs.

From Source Tags I really like "Relative Ways". That's probably my favorite right now, but it might have something to do with I've heard it more than all of the other songs. Also "Another Morning Stoner" and "Heart in the hand of the Mat" and "How Near How Far", but again, I like all of the songs. Those are just the few that stuck out on the first couple of listens.

I've never heard them live. I was surprised, however, to see them as guests on a show on Fuse the other month. They were just interviewed though, no performance or anything. And they showed the video for "Relative Ways" which I'd never seen. Was weird though, since Fuse never play them.
