I like a little bit of Ashlee Simpson which I am extremely ashamed of. I downloaded the song I liked though, i didn't buy anything of hers, and never will. If I could control what i like, I would make myself stop liking that Lala song, I really would.

Johnny Cash is awesome. I remember that NIN cover of hurt. I almost cried when I saw it.
Oh another one is...remember that movie "A walk to remember" hahahah
well that song she sings. What's it called? "Only Hope" or something. It's not the one they played on the radio, it was really pretty though. I'm NOT a mandy moore fan. I just thought that was a real pretty song.

It's the opposite; most people like them because they're told to. People dislike them because they're one of the biggest pieces of derivative excrement to have ever disgraced the airwaves.
I'm not really ashamed of anything I listen to; if it's good, I like it, and if I like it, it's good, and that's good and I like it, and like and good and good and like and I'll say that I like it to anyone.
People would probably wonder what Natalie Imbruglia's doing in my collection, but she's great, so...that's what she's doing there.

there's a difference between dirty pleasures and being ashamed. Country music is mine and i'm not ashamed, it still a dirty pleasure though.
And Jet is good, most people do hate them because they are told to. Do you know how much people hated me when I first joined because I liked them? There one of my favourite bands and I found myself criticizing them to fit in.

Well i'm not sure what the actual description is but you don't nescesary have to be ashamed. Jet is one because you like them but everyone here doesn't. It may not be a guilty pleasure everywhere but here it is.
Country music is one because I like it and who doesn't bash country music? I do even.
I think Clara's is a proper one, she disses Johnny Cash all the time but secretly likes him. I think that is the proper one.

No, most of the time, the music I like isn't perfect (I exclude albums such as Forever Changes and The Holy Bible here), but criticism isn't the same as 'bashing' or being ashamed to admit that I like it. You're trying to combine two completely different arguments.

Yes, but 'dirty pleasure' implies shame, whereas 'criticism' is useful and practical, so this is, basically, a thread about things that you listen to but are ashamed about.
